I have been lightheaded for the last 4 weeks. It feels like an off balance dizziness. Its not a spinning feeling and I do not get nausea. If this is the result of stress and anxiety, will it eventually go away? I went to my doctor and he did blood tests. He said that it could be low iron, a sugar problem, or anxiety. I do not currently take any medication for anxiety. I am really afraid that this feeling will not go away. I am 29 and I have had anxiety many times since I was a teenager. I just never had this particular feeling for this long. Is this normal? I have to wait till my next doctors appt to get the results and I am getting very anxious.

do you have any other symtons such as headaches or any pain in your face, neck, and shoulders?

i had the same feeling that you experience but i also had a headache with mine. it lasted for a few months then my jaw started clicking and it turned out that i had tmj.

if your blood work comes back negative as did mine, i would get other test done just to be on the safe side.

let me know your results & good luck Smile

Getting anxious isn't going to help your symptoms if you do have anxiety. Take some time outs to breathe and relax...it may not be anxiety. If you want to be actively doing something about your condition to ease your worry, it's never a bad thing to start taking vitamins, cutting the processed sugar out of your diet, and starting a healthier lifestyle.

Watch your breathing too. People with anxiety tend to change their normal breathing patterns and don't get enough oxygen by doing so. If you start to breathe irregularly, you may notice that you start feeling lightheaded....so that is something to watch for.

You can also have your ears checked and cleaned and see if that helps with your balance. As the above poster said, you could have an issue with your jaw called TMJ which can cause an imbalance in the fluids in your ears.

Good luck.

lightheadedness.
Thank you for the replys. I will let you know my blood test results. As for tmj, a long time ago I had pain in the side of my head and tightness on the side of my face. I went to the doctor and was told I had tmj. This was about 9 years ago. Since that time, I have only had bothersome tightness in the side of my face maybe twice. So I always thought that my tmj was minor and not that bothersome. My mother on the other hand has it too and she claims that it causes all types of symptoms. Like dizziness and headaches. I believe that it can cause dizziness but I don't really understand how. Can you have tmj symptoms and not realize it? Maybe this lightheadedness is not anxiety. Maybe it is tmj. As for my health, I take a centrum multivitamin every single day, drink lots of water, and I try to eat well balanced meals.

lightheadedness vs depersonalization/derealization
Is it at all possible that the lightheadedness that I and many others mention is one in the same as depersonalization? Many people seem to say that they feel dizzy, groggy, lightheaded, and vertigo from anxiety. Can someone explain to me what depersonalization/derealization is? I'm sorry that I ask so many questions. Confused

i would deffinetly get checked out for tmj. tell you dentist your symptons. when i first started experiencing all of my symptons, tmj was the last thing i thought of because my jaw wasnt really bothering me. but if you do have anxiety also, it can make your tmj as worse.

as for depersonalization..i dont think i really experience that so i cant help you there. sorry about that Sad

I tend to write my lightheadedness off to low-bloodpressure...
