Help me stop smoking weed. Posted: 02-11-08 20:19pm
Hi, ive been smoking weed for almost 4
years now. I have wanted to stop numerous
times, but i cant seem to manage it. I am
underage and my parents don't know i
smoke. I have been smoking horribly
irresponsibly for the past semester in
school. I have been cutting class for
weeks just to smoke pot. I put away an
eighth a day if i have it. I am really at
a low point in my life and i really want
to stop smoking. I don't think i am
addicted, but i am severely dependent.
I want to get my life back on track and
stop smoking. Every time i try to quit, i
feal like UTTER crap. I feal like the only
thing that will make it better would be
another hit.
my question: Is there any tips, tricks, or
secrets to successfully stop smoking weed.

TIPS,TRICKS, SECRET....here's you
one.......you want ot take control of your
life.....do it. You are ALLOWING damned
pot to conrtol you. I am not saying you
have to STOP totally..........although I
did for years. I hated the way it had the
control over me to make me a lazy ass and
to eat everything in the house....You have
to be hte one ot say...hey, this is
BS......everytime you think about it
divert that energy into something
useful............help out at home,
volunteer at an animal shelter.....stop
making excuses....you are young....I am
50.....I understand though, I honestly do
I rmeember what its like to be YOUNG. Your
education and the things you instill upon
your life now will have a huge influence
on your future. You want to wrok at a fast
food place all your life for minimun
wage...............or do Stop whining and
take the bull by the balls and go for it.
Always here to cheer you on if you want
the support!

F*GM said it all. I am 60 and was lucky
enough to not like the way it made me feel
when I was younger. I think I tried it
twice (if that). You don't need to feel
uforic to live. The same issues are going
to be there when you stop. Start facing
them!

Hi Hun,
I think it may be good for you to go see a
doctor and tell them about whats going on
with you. I know what you're going through
and I realize it's tough but yoneed to do
something about it NOW while you still can
before you go and possibly ruin your life.
You're still in school and right now thats
what you should be concentrating on not
d***s. is there a reason you're smoking,
have you got problems you want to talk
about? Things that are going on at home or
things that have hurt you? I am so very
scared for you because I started just like
you. not as young , matbe a lttle older
and the things it can lead to are so scary
hun. I wish I could take it all back. I
had so much potential but I threw it all
away and sometimes you can never get it
back. the damage is done.
You're still young and you still have a
chance to get back on track hun without
damaging you're future..
I'm here for you. Let me try and help you.
we'll do it together. Take it a day at a
time. There is no real secret just take it
day by day. Keep motivated. concentrate on
physical activity or something you like
when going through withdrawels. Just make
yourself do something to get rid of those
urges.
Take care and remember You're the only one
that can really take care of you. You call
the shots. You're worth it hun. Learn to
love yourself... xo

I think the first reply was a little harsh
but is in essense true.
There is no physical addiction to
marijuana so it all comes down to
willpower and motivation which many pot
smokers find themselves lacking
esspecially if they are a long term user.
You mentioned you wanted to get your life
back on track and that is a big motivator
but you need to hone it. What do you
REALLY want? Be specific, create a goal
and go for it .. it does not need to be
big either, small goals each one getting
you somewhere and making the u se of drugs
less important helps.
Heck, write em down on a bit of paper and
carry them with you and remembwer the good
things that will come.
In the end you know what motivates you and
you gotta make the big decisions but there
is no magic pill just your zest for life
which you can cultivate yourself if the
desire is there.
So be positive and get out there and do
soemthing ... next time you feel like
smoking et up and go for a run, dont think
about it just do it! (i sound like a Nike
ad ) ... action will
overcome also.
