Lump below right ribcage (Page 1)

Do you find it as a firm, lumpy mass?
Do you feel pain around the right shoulder blade?
Have you lost some weight unexpectedly?
Does it look like is located within skin layers or deeper in abdominal cavity?

I know its been a few years since your post but I have similiar condition. lumps on both sides below rib cage. Pain in right shoulder blade and lumps appear deeper rather than in skin itself. Both lumps are fixed and dont move around. I also have pain in both armpits and neck. The lumps in my neck seem to come and go but armpits and flanks always there. Ive had negative CT scans and Dr's cant figure it out. I"m totally lost at this point. Too many symptoms to list and been getting worse over 2 year period. Thanks in advance

I have such a simillar problem to you.

I do have lumps on both sides, though the right side hurts. The lump is on my right - side, just where the rib cage finishes

Also Pain between shoulder blades. Both hurt and massaging doesn't help.

I have had an ultra sound and there was two pulps in my right kidney.

It hurts more after I drink, or the morning after.

Did you ever get a diagnosis? I too, have the same problem as you!

i have the same thing under my right ribcage as kimb1048. it is a hard knot, and i do sometimes have pain that shoots from it. this started in 2006, but has got bigger. however, it seems to shrink some and it feels like my whole side is inflamed or swollen at times. i cant lay on my side because it hurts to do that. i also have the same thing on my left side, but it started on my right.it isnt just under my skin, however, it doesnt feel like it is real deep down in either, kinda in between that. i have not lost any unexpected weight, and i do feel pain around my shoulder blade at times. any suggestions to what this is?? could it be cancer??

Is there an update ? Sounds like what my friend has. We are wondering as well.

It feels hard to me, I have no shoulder blade pain and I have gained more than usual weight over the last months. I do feel like I have less energy and I have trouble falling asleep even when I am exhausted. I can feel it by just lightly rubbing my abdomen without pressing. I also can look in the mirror and tell that my right side is larger than the left side. I do drink and smoke. But I have not had much this last month. The doctor said that my liver felt fine.....but I still worry.

had a small paifull lump and preassure its always rolling around i can feel it, doctors could not find anything prescribed antibiotics didnt help,then went to see gp again prescribed ibuprofen,its being 2 years now lump has slightly bigger still doctors say that cant feel it , make it sound like i am making it up,it is hard to find it coz its rols i know where it is coz always trying to massage my side to ease the pain, i am still sufferinghas any one got any ideas?

I am currently experiencing the same thing and I am beginning to feel crazy.. I can't even wear my bra because my whole left side (Ribs) hurt so much I can't sleep on my left side and doctors are useless

Have you visited a surgeon already?
Do you have discomfort in the upper abdomen on the right side?
Do you feel nauseous?
Are you aware about some previous liver problems?

The doctor that I am seeing is a surgeon. But she is unable to do surgery becuase when I am lying flat, it moves under my ribs. It really bothers me when I am bloated or after a meal. I am just living with it. Keep me posted on your prognosis. Good Luck

When I lay flat on my back, on a hard surface, I feel a lump which hurts. I recently had an x-ray done to zap a kidney stone and when I mentioned this pain on my back (at the bottom of my left rib cage) they could not detect a thing. I've had this for about a year and a half now and haven't been diagnosed with anything.....and it hurts when I breathe in.

i too have this and fluid on my outer lung and ribs..a pleural effusion its called.cant take ibubrofen so nothing else works.been in bad pain for 4 months especially at night.has anyone else had these symptoms.tried creams for pain too.thinking of asking to have the fluid drained.cant cope with it.

I know you reported this years ago, but I'm having the same issue. Every sympton you have I have. Just wanted to know what ever became of this?

could it be fat but not under left rib cage

I sort of have the same thing. BUT At first, I had a dull pain on the right side of my back under my ribs. And it was very un comfortable to lay of my left side, because it felt like my hib bone was digging into something that was under my ribs. And My boyfriend couldnt rest his arm on my right side because it hurt, and was uncomfortable. But it was a serious pain, just uncomfortable pain. Eventually the pain went to the front of me under my right rib, and I have developed a weird ball-like lump under my right rib. Sometimes it's there, somedays it isnt there at all. Sometimes i get stomach pains too. I am very tired a lot. And I have headaches a lot. I went from being 125 lbs, to 115 lbs,to 120 lbs. I eat a lot though, and can scarf back a lot of food in one day, and not gain a pound! And after a large meal I get full, but 30 mins later, I feel hungry again, i get the hunger feeling in my belly. I went to the doctors, had tests done, still waiting for the results. Anyone feel like this before? Anyone know what it could maybe be?

i have a pleural effusion or fluid between my right ribs and lung.its a stinging pain,and feels like a sharp ball when i sit back or lie flat.my ribs hurt at side and back,with the inflammation,been given steroids after 3 months because i cant take ibubropen to help inflammation.pain is awful.has anyone had pleural effusion and how long did it last..fed up now!!

I too have a lump between the size of a tennis ball and a golf ball. I feel some pain - tenderness mostly. I do feel like if it's pushing up on other things near my rib cage. I feel uncomfortable when after I eat. I've also gained weight over the last couple of months too. I noticed it about two months ago and it has grown in size and is a hard lump. If I lie down you it also moves under my rib cage and you cannot feel it. If I look in the mirror I can see that my ride side is larger as well. I will be seeing a doctor today. Has anyone been given any answers yet?

I also have a lump under my rib cage ,hard and getting bigger by the day is seems .It stings I guess is what you would call the feeling .I am being treated for liver issues and I'm wondering if its not my Liver............thats where your liver is........going to call my Dr monday I'll try and let you all know what I find out. Rather scary.

I have had a growth under my right breast that started out small and now goes down the the right side and then around my upper back. I do break out in sweats, It actually burns the sheets and burns me too. The pain feels like some is either is tearing my ribs out or a arrow got shot between my shoulder blades down into my chest on the right side. My shoulder hurts. I pass out to the point I dont know what is going on. You can see the growth and my ribs turning blue. However it doesnt show up on imaging. When they did a ultra sound the girl thought my ribs were broken because it hurt so bad. I am now stuck in bed. I no longer can get dressed and wearing a bra is out. I went to a top surgeon , and Nero and a radiologist and my womans health care all said something different. I am also on medicare and am only 47. Anyone with a Idea or a type of doctor to go to . I am at a loss and crying myself to sleep every night is not a good option . There must be someone , someplace willing to help. Thanks, pj

Hi, i have had a similar problem, but the type of doctor i was refered to was called an internal medical specialist.

I'm experiencing something really similar Ruban12. My doctor recommended that I get blood work, a chest x-ray, and an ultrasound of my spleen. Apparently, he's thinking some kind of problem with my lymphatic system. I tend to agree...Hopefully it's nothing serious. I'm worried about it, and on top of it all - I dont have health insurance.

Today I actually went to a family care clinic. Having no other choice I figured it couldnt hurt. I was shocked. The doctor there not only listened but really cared. She order blood work up. A ultra sound and a chest xray like you eratliff. She gave me some lidocaine strips (SP) to help with the pain. Im sorry you dont have insurance medicare is close to not having any. I am intrested in what your ultra sound shows. Please keep us posted. I also found out that I have some discs in my neck that are bulging. We still have a long way to go but finally after a year of going to specialist who did nothing , I drove two mile from my home and someone is at least trying. My prayers are with everyone . We will beat this we just have to learn from each other.

Ok,I went back to the doctor. All my labs turned out fine. My ultra sound though quite painful showed nothing wrong. For most of the people on here the first thing two doctors thought was I injured my T5 and T6 discs in my back. That came back negative. The PA I saw could not understand if I went to specialist why I was sitting in a PA or family doctors office. I explained I had to start somewhere as the other people I saw could not help. She wasnt in a good mood like the first time I went in. I think she was just having a bad day. Fortunatly for me she asked the doctor to come in and he was a little kinder. I am sorry I dont understand why it is so hard to get help. IF YOU CAN see it , and its as large as a orange, YOU THINK UM MAYBE IT SHOULDNT BE THERE> They are sending me to a GASTRO so we shall see. I will keep writing her hoping my rabbling will help someone

I sure wish someone would reply with their findings because I have the same thing, only whatever it is actually caused my rib to break. I had xray, ultra sound, mammogram and ct- all show nothing! It has to be some sort of cyst-I'm at the point where I wish some surgeon would just split me open and find it already!

Hey all, I don't know if this helps but I have a golf ball sized lump under my left ribcage as well. I. had a kidney infection last Friday. Tuesday I was getting terrible pains on my left side and on Tuesday I noticed a hard lump under my left ribcage. The pain goes on and off and is worse at night. Had a CT scan yesterday to rule out kidney tones and nothing was located. I visited a urologist today who said it could be a benign tumor that is pushing on a nerve. I just had an X-ray today so I'll have to wait and see. If anyone can give advise, I'd appreciate it. I'm nervous bc the lump is almost as hard as bone and the pain is abnormal for a fatty mass. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Good luck all

Hey everybody, I had surgery for female problems in June of this year, and a couple of weeks later noticed that my left side under my breast was bulging out way further than the right!! I was sent to the urgent care by my physician and onto the er by urgent care. ER found a golfball sized mass under my ribcage. I had blood pressure of 90/46 and heart rate of 106, not sure of either one of those, they wouldn't tell me. I wasn't doing anything to have an elavated heart rate. I have gained over 30 lbs. since June, I have no appetite and when I eat I am nauseus. In the meantime I am scheduled to have the mass removed by my surgeon on August 24. Still have no clues to what it is. If anyone gets any answers before then please let me know. Good luck to you all and God Bless you.

Hey Guys I have the same problem, I found this problem when I was pregnant with my 4th child but I also have some knots on my left arm started with 1 on arm now over 2 yrs i have 6 on arm and i reciently started having bad head aches and a knot on my neck then another one appeared and went to my head there is probally 6 there they hurt and have been getting bigger i have lost weight i stay very tired with no energy and i constantly wanna touch my head i feel like my head is swelling up they dont ever stop hurting either can anyone help

Doctor, I have a mass underneath my right rib cage. It floats underneath when I lay down. I have gained weight this last few months and I work out quit often. I do not drink or smoke. I take care of myself. I get sick when I eat and throw up quit often. Any ideas?

I had testicular cancer about two years ago, and now I've found a lump under my right rib cage. CT scan on the 5th to see what it might be. I will post with findings.

My right lower rib seems to sporadically hit what feels like a lump right below the rib cage. I spoke with my Dr. He first did ultrasound for gallbladder stones. It came back ok. He next order a HIDA scan (nuclear testing). I have not gone yet. Nuclear medicine doesn't thrill me. I have sporadic discomfort in same area. I also get pain in the center of my back right under my shoulder blade. From reading through the narratives it sounds like maybe it could be lymphatic. Any ideas anyone? Or maybe Hernia?
