Q: pain on left side

I have had pain on my left side for 3 weeks now. It is a dull-medium ache that gets stronger with food and drink. I have had x-rays of my ribs and bowels, blood test, urine test and nothing positive came of them. So the Dr. sent me for a barium enema. I have not received the results yet. As I prepared for the barium enema, my symptoms seemed to relax a bit, but now, two days after, and back on a normal diet, my pains are back even stronger. The pain is NOT in my abdomen. It is on my very left side, under my rib cage. Right in the spot that I would rest my hand, if I were standing with my hands on my hips. Even cold water brings on stronger pains instantly. It hurts(only in the above mentioned area), to breath in deep, although it is not impossible. I feel the pain all day long and at night. It worsens when I eat or drink. It even felt like it went up into my left chest and left arm last night. The pain subsides, but never goes away. It has been three weeks. When I went for the "Benema"(Dr's slang), I gave my symptoms to the tech, and the radiologist suggested that it might be an upper GI test that I needed, not a Benema. But, they went ahead with the test anyway. Maybe I will be returning to the hospital for an upper GI series?
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on this, I would appreciate the input.

Left side pain after Gastric Bypass surgery
it's because that's where they used and manipulated the instruments for your gastric bypass the most. If your doctor doesn't know this, then he's got real issues, and I'd look into getting a new doctor. I just had gastric bypass three weeks ago, and have this pain pretty badly, and have asked several times, and always get the same answer: because they manipulate the tools on the left side the most, and are not very gentile about it at all.
