hey everyone! so here's my sob story.. i went snowboarding last Sunday and messed up my left knee, I've wrapped it up and am walking like a gimp (it's actually kinda funny) but on Tuesday i started feeling pain where my left ovary is. i'm not sure if it's actually just the muscle in that area and is related to the strain on my knee and leg or if it's actually something wrong with my ovary. i noticed today that the area is a little swollen and the pain is slowly getting worse. the biggest problem is that i'm a starving college student and i dont have health insurance to go get checked out. any input would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

What about your parents, wouldn't you still be on their insurance?

I don't know if ovary problems cause swelling of the area, but I do know muscle problems can.

Since you don't have insurence, I would wait a couple days (if you can) & c if it's go-n 2 to get betta. If it's not any betta n a couple day, u really should go to the ER. It could possibly b sumthin serious. They have 2 take u @ the ER, but it will cost a ton......

I am an avid runner and tennis player who has strained just about every leg muscle! In regards to the knee issue...you need to follow the RICE method. Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. You should also take a mild anti-inflamitory/pain reliever such as Naproxen Sodium (Aleve). Try to stay off of you leg as much as possible (yeah I know not practicle) but the more you walk on it the longer it will take to recover and you could make it much worse. When ever you are sitting, prop your leg up on a pillow and put a bag of ice on your knee (I actually prefer frozen peas). Following these steps will really speed up your recovery time. I would be very watchful of the swelling around your ovary, internal problems can be very serious. Your school doesn't have a student health center?

Well I don't know where you are-
but if you're in the US you HAVE to have insurance to be a college student (your college has to provide it if you don't have outside insurance) and even if it's not great insurance (mine sure isn't) they probably have some kind of health center at school where they'll check students out for free.

I was thinking the same thing. I was still under my parents in insurance when I was in college, but for those who didn't have insurance there was the student health center which would examine students at no charge.
