Q: Terrible headache and bruised gums after passing out
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 9th, 2008
My daughter came home from college this weekend with a terrible headache. What concerns me is that she passed out at the dorm yesterday (during a shower) and her gums are bruised. What is going on???

If she hit her head during the fall when she passed out, the symptoms may indicate the headache is due to some brain trauma. If she did not hit her head, the headache could be due to many less serious reasons. You might consider taking her to a GP for a neurological examination and, if necessary, a CT-scan of the head can be done.
