Q: Burping w/sick feeling or lower abdominal pain - cause ??

My mother often has the following symptoms:

1) Burping associated with feeling sick, or

2) Burping associated with lower abdominal pain.

Forcing herself to throw-up will make the sick feeling subside somewhat.

Appears to be related to some foods. Green tea makes her feel sickly. spicy foods (but not hot sauces) sometimes brings the condition on.

Symptoms and poor feelings usually take several days to resolve themselves.

She claims that Prylosec (which lower stomach acidity) will sometimes help.

Nothing comes up when she burps, nor is there a taste to the burp, except on rare occasions. Normally just air.

Does not experience diarrhea or full blow nausea.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Pete

Those look like the symptoms of Bullimia, when someone thinks they feel sick & purposely throws up. look it up on a search engine & ask your mum to see a doctor, I may be wrong but this is what it looks like to me Smile

PS: Bullimia is an eating disorder.

Not bulimia. I've had gastritis off and on for years due to H. Pylori. I got to the point of recognizing the onset and forced myself to throwup, thereby getting some relief. Similar situation with my mother. She is slightly overweight and only forces herself to throw up on occasion when she experiences the sick feeling. If she had a psychic disorder which led to throwing up I fee sure she would be loosing weight.
