Small hole near coccyx
Posted: 02-09-08 00:43am

I have scoliosis ... but I don't know if it has anything to do with this. I've noticed that when I sit for long periods of time or lie down on the floor and do crunches, I get this acute pain near my coccyx (the lowest bone in the back). I just recently noticed that I actually have a small hole where the pain is. When the pain is bad, I can dab there with a tissue and I can see watery blood. The feeling is what I would imagine it would feel like if the coccyx were trying to poke through my skin.

Does anyone know what this is? It hurts terribly, and it's rather embarrassing.

All I can advise you to do is get it looked at ASAP. Whatever it is, should not be there.

There nothing embarassing when it got something to do pain go and have it check maybe it could be nothing or maybe it could be something more, having blood coming out at places which is not suppose to come out it's not a good sign - to me. Take care.

As you may know is a bend in your spine in a certain area. Usually abnormal bend in the spinal cord. Mine is in the mid thorasic area. Do you know where yours is? Is it in the same area. Could be where the spine starts to bend out again at the end. You really need to have that looked at as soon a your possibly can. Probably nothing serious, but I aways rather err on the side to be sure.

Some possibilities include pilonidal cyst (most likely) , erosion of the coccyx through the skin due to pressure on the coccyx when sitting (unlikely), fistula tract, furuncle.

Now I must say I am starting to believe you are who you say you are. First thing I thought of was fistula. Good call! To young for a decubitus.
