Q: Chrones Disease
asked by: DoctorQuestion on February 8th, 2008
I am a relatively healthy adult. As a child and through adulthood I have never been sick. I would get a cold every couple years but that's about it. For the last year I've felt worse than the past 28 years combined and it seems to get worse everyday. The major problem is fatigue and weakness to the point where I can't function. I feel like my body is slowly shutting down. (I am normally a very active person, always wanting to do something.) I got diagnosed with Chrones Disease in July. I have also had 4 bacteria infections since then. I have taking anti-biotics each time and feel better for about a week, then continue to feel worse.
Any thoughts of what could be the complication?? Or any suggestions that I should recommend telling my doctor.

Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease. Generally, it is a serious condition that can decrease quality of life and can cause many complications such as malnutrition, vitamin deficiency, fistulas of the surrounding organs, constipation, joint inflammation…and more. Some complications of Crohn's Disease can be life threatening and include abscesses, bowel obstruction, or perforation. The symptoms that you describe (fatigue, weakness, bacterial infections…) are typically experienced during a chronic disease like Crohn’s disease.
