Hello,

38 year old, history of a few bad sunburns on chest. Developed what I felt was sun damage/spot on chest, round 4-5 mm (smaller than pencil eraser), tan, slightly raised. Now it seems to have changed slightly...The surface raising slightly more than before. Concerned about potential skin cancers - not sure what kinds look like this. Heard melanoma is the 'least desirable' one to have...If any are better than the others...Also heard they are usually quite dark, very irregular shape, but truly am not as knowledgeable as I should be.

Any advice, or good web pages to suggest for help in increasing my knowledge of moles/skin cancer/sun damage?

I am going to call dr after weekend, but still, would like to try and ease my mind a little until then.

Sorry I'm Late!
Hi, just found your post, hopefully you have gone to a dermo by now. Any new mole or suspecios place that comes up needs to be examined. Regular moles usually develop in your adolecent years. New moles and freckles and skin "things" come with age. To be safe, lord knows i've had so many removed, including melanoma 4 years ago, go every year for a total body scan. Just one bad sunburn was enough to cause damage. I had several, that plus cancun and tanning beds, but who listens when they are young? Pushing 47 now, and I take better care of myself. Lots of 45-50 spf sunblock! Try www.Skincancer.Org. Its alwasy better to be safe than sorry, I wish you all the luck in the world!!!!!!!!!!

Important
I called to get an earlier appointment because I am so worried... I told them i've checked out all the sites and that I fear i've got the stage 4 melanoma as all 6 symptoms I have. They told me do not read the sites. Go to a doctor as you will either worry yourself needlessly or misdiagnose (not go in) when you should see a doctor.

Anything raised that changes shape, color or texture you need to worry about. I have done a lot of checking and this is on all sites. Anything going from light brown to dark brown or black or even skin color go in. Anything raised and pencil eraser size or bigger get checked out! Anything that it brown and scaly or bleeds is bad news.... And anything not perfectly round is also of concern.
