Q: HIV infection

I found a condom half filled with a fluid (thought at the time to be water) sitting on the ice tray in a hotel bar fridge. I removed it and emptied its contents in the basin so as to dispose of it.

Later it crossed my mind that a person could have placed an HIV infection in the condom with malicious intent.

Assuming the condom contained HIV infected semen within water how long would the infection remain active and, if active at the time of fluid disposal, how long would it remain active on the basin with just normal cleaning? Also, how long would the infection remain active in the condom, I wrapped it in paper and placed in the waste bin.

Looking forward to receiving your professional opinion.

Thank you in anticipation.

Peter

The HIV virus dies immediately when exposed to air so don't worry about it.
