Q: Labia majora discoloration

I'm a 17 year old female and have recently started experimenting with different ways to remove genital hair. About three months back I tried a hair removal cream which left me with a painful rash, but once that had gone away I saw that my labia majora was a deep red colour, the same colour as my labia minora. I thought that this could have been a side effect of the hair removal cream as I hadn't noticed it before, but it wasn't painful and I was scared that it had been there all along and I hadn't noticed because it was covered with hair. I let the hair grow back and hoped that it was just a side effect, but my friends convinced me to get a XXX wax the other day and once the redness from the waxing went away my labia majora was still the deep red colour. I am scared that there is something wrong, but as I am experiencing no pain or discomfort I am wondering if it is just a birth mark. I would really like advice on this one or to hear from anyone with a similar problem as I feel like a freak and am scared that someone will see me naked and freak out.

If there's no pain or anything else, maybe it's just a birth mark? I guess I wouldn't worry too much. Mention it at your next gyno visit.

I have the same thing, I noticed mine when I shaved. I haven't shaved it for a few months but it wasn't there before. I am going to the doctor in the morning to find out what it is because I too am scared.

I went to the doctor and he said that it is normal on some women and to not worry about it.
