Medical reasons for this type of sweating
provoked by mental tension such as anxiety
includes the following. Various emotions
can stimulate one of the two parts of the
neuro-vegetative system, either the
sympathicus or parasympathicus systems.
Both control centres of emotional life.
Further, the neuro-vegetative system are
located in a complex brain structure
called the limbic system.
In your case, it seems that a strong
emotion stimulated the sympathetic
system.... which in turn can cause
stimulation of the sweat glands in the
skin. There is nothing you can do about
this physiological mechanism other than
trying to calm your anxiety.
