I had jaw surgery on my lower right jaw. I had a hairline fracture. Does anyone know any good things to eat? I can not chew anything, and I can eat pudding, but it takes long time and hurts a little.
Anyone got any reccomendations??
I been eating these Cambell soups made to drink out of. Thanks

You should invest in a good blender...you'll need it for quite a while.

My sister TMDDyan should know what to put here, because she had jaw surgery too...I'll send her over to make a post Wink

I threw my jaw out from TMD once and my chiropractor told me to eat soft stuff and it was really boring just for having to eat like that for a week.

I think I had jello with whipped topping, yogurt, pudding, broths and soups, soft serve ice cream or shakes, but there isn't much else I could think of. I had too many kids to be blending up concoctions for myself lol.

Extremely eHealthy
Hey---I had jaw surgey as mominashoe said. Ive been eating soft foods for a long time. Yes a good blender would be a very good idea. I would recommend a vitamix. that blender gets things blended up very well.

Are you wired shut? ONe thing that i had while i was wired shut and even afterwards was to take the pea soup from cambles and mix it with beef broth or chicken broth. I simply put it in a syringe and shot it into my mouth and swallowed. YOu should be able to get a syringe from either a pharmacy or your doctor. I also took meat and potatoes and blended them up in the vitamix so that it was practically liquid and just drank it. The more liquid it is the less chewing you have to do.

I actually have a cook book specifically for those that have had jaw surgery. Its all things that you would normally cook and then put in the blender. As long as you make sure to add enough liquid and blend everything very well so that there are no chunks you should be fine. you can also boost the nutrition by using protien shakes. MEt-Rx is the best one for nutrition that ive seen around. You can google it.

I would be willing to send you that cook book. let me know if you want it.

I hope that i have helped--if you need any thing dont hesitate to contact me.

thanks
Hi, Thanks for the info.
No, thankfully my jaw is not shut. The DR. said I can eat mashed potatoes today!
So, I am really happy. I am currently working on getting a new blender. Did you eat alot of ice cream? I am going to try that Met-Rx drink. I sneezed today and it hurt.

I was wondering How long was your jaw wired shut Tmddyan? Was there a certain way that you sleep at night? Thanks for your help & info.

Also, is that a yorkshire or Shi Tszu doggy on your avatar picture? LOL, its looks like my little dog. Have a good night. Smile

Cookbook for recipes after jaw surgery
Sure would love to have that cookbook for recipes after jaw surgery. Getting tired of the same thing over and over and this is a long haul after surgery. TMJWorld wrote that she/he had one.
