I am a 51 year old male, smoke, drink about twice a week.

Good health just bad habits.

I have had a right index finger twitch for about 3 weeks with no pain.

Weird but not worried about it. I was thinking about taping a pencil to it to see if anyone was trying to communicate with me. Just kidding.

After reading all the post I have decided not to worry about it unless it gets really bad.

Peace

I am a 27 year old male with no history of Parkinson's either. I to am a designer and work on the same software that requires shortcuts from my left hand. My left thumb has recently been twitching (happened a couple times with my right thumb as well). First, very rarely but now, very frequently, almost like a tremor. I also now have a weird pain where the joint meets the palm. My thumb feels fatigued and and it's becoming difficult for me hit the space bar as I constantly do. i'm going to the doctor soon. i'll keep you posted what I find out.

twitch in my left hand, all fingers
I'm a 24 year old active and healthy female. Since yesterday afternoon my left hand has been twitching. It started in my index finger, then my thumb and today when my hand was relaxed it started twitching in all of my fingers. I have no pain whatsoever. I've also had eye twitches randomly in the past, but never consistently. I'm seeing a doctor on the 3rd. I would recommend to anyone who has it consistently to get it checked out...better safe than sorry. I have no pain, but if it hurts or cramps up, sounds a bit like carpel tunnel-go to a doc. and see what can help.

I'm 38 year old female. I have also been having spasms in my left index finger and thumb. There is also somewhat of a burning sensation in the pinky area when the spasms act up. My grandfather had Parkinson's by his hands trembled. This doesn't seem the same. I had a bout of Bells Palsey several years ago and the burning sensation seems similar to how my face felt with the Bells Palsey. I'm wondering if this is a similar nerve inflamation problem. I haven't had time to go to the doctor, but just wanted to share.

Left Hand Pinky, Ring Finger Numb, Thumb and Pinky twitches
I am 14 years old. I was using my laptop when my ring finger and pinky on my left hand started to get numb again (this is the fourth time ever). then my thumb orf pnky starts to twitch uncontrollably for 5- 10 seconds. it's annoying and im wondering whether it's my ulnar nerve or something. but it's an uncomfortable feeling to have your hand partially numb. it's hard to type now while it's twitching. i don't use my laptop everyday but o was on it for a few hours today doing a project. i need advice please.

Twitching finger on Left Hand
Hi Everyone. After reading most of these posts, I too am relieved that some have said their MD's told them not to worry about it. Nice...but with so many posts...what is going on? I too went to my physician last year for a twitching left hand pinky, had blood tests, and the results were normal. It went away until this past week where my index finger has a little twinge to it with no pain. Now that it's come back one year later I'll look into it more. I'm an RN at a large University Hospital and will do some research and do my best to post a follow up to help.

left index and thumb twiching
I've had the twitching for about a week now. I'm a 36 year old male and use to play pc games a whole lot online..for years and now I'm learning to model and animate using 3d software witch uses shortcut keys that require constant use of my left hand. I'm getting kind of scared here. There is no pain and it happens randomly. The twitching occurs in my left index finger and my left thumb, I notice that the space between these two fingers twitches as well.

hi
it could be pinched nerve in neck. there is a separate nerve root there that controls the thumb and index finger. i'd see a physiatrist about a diagnosis. it would be good to stop it early before it gets worse....pete

This is so crazy that I've come across this.. I too am a graphic designer (35 years old), and use short hand keys all day long, and just yesterday started experiencing twitches in my left hand between my thumb and pointer finger. What is that!!??? Scary! Has anyone gone to see doctor about it?

hi karley
sorry your having trouble. take a peak at the picture of the body shown by this link.

http://www.dr-bertagnoli.com/dermatome-map .html

if you look at the thumb and index finger it says C6. that means that nerves at the 6th vertebrae of the neck affect those digets. a pinched nerve could cause your trouble. you need to stop this before it gets worse. you have a choice of specialists you can see. either a physiatrist, an orthopedic surgeon, a neurosurgeon or a neurologist. it could be that you are having trouble caused by bad neck posture. you dont want this to get worse as it might affect a disc in your neck. hope its easy to fix. let us know how you do....pete

I'm new to this forum, but I have been reading these posts for some time. I have been experiencing thumb twitching in certain positions and finger twitching only when the palm is facing up and the arm is fully extended. I was so freaked out, but I just got back from the Doctor. My Grandmother had Parkinson's so they did the Parkinsons test on me. Balance, muscle strength and facial expression checks. I was fine. He said what I have is just a common essential tremor that can come and go. Please don't put yourself through the agony that I've been through in the past week. You guys are fine. Essential tremors can occur from stress or overwork or for no reason. Good luck

Twichy thumbs
please dont bash me for this crazy idea BUT it could possibly the electric currents running through the keyboards and mice. or the fact that our wrists have been semi (cutting of circulation from wrist placement) I dont know i hate the twitch, and like someone said earlier i tend to focus on it when it happens, very distracting -fyi its doing it right now.

I've also got the twitch
I'm a 29 year old female - full time finance slave, part time designer. Left handed. Ever since childhood I've had the occasional charlie-horse-like cramping twitchyCSR reported in both hands. About 10 seconds of my hand taking a deformed shape, tightness and a little pain. But lately I've had a twitch on the side of my right hand about an inch and a half down from my pinky. It happens about once every two hours and is very brief. I hope this isn't the onset of Parkinson's. I think I'll try some chinese hand balls as well...

Hey, I'm a 30 year old left handed designer with a twitching left index finger. It's been twitching for about a week, about the time when I was right in the middle of a massive/epic vectoring project. There is definitely a pattern in this thread. I would love to hear if anyone has any answers or indication of how long it will last.

I posted back in december about my left thumb twitching (read my previous post). I went to the doctor later that month and conveniently, the twitching had virtually stopped. Since there were no apparent symptoms, I could only describe what happened. Unfortunately, I think he thought I might have been a hypochondriac or something. He basically told me that there wasn't anything to worry about and unless I had twitches for 6 months, in which case they would do nerve tests, there was really nothing he could do. It is now four months later and I had not had a single thumb twitch when until a few days ago, it started up again. This time more intense, it's even happened occasionally in my right thumb as well. If you're really concerned about it, I would see a neurologist because unfortunately, most family practitioners will just refer your out anyway, even for a nerve test. So save yourself the trouble and cut out the middle man.

Twitching middle finger
My left middle finger did start twitching the other day and I think it may be the way I rest my elbow when using the computer as I use a computer a lot. I don''t notice it while on the computer which is weird. But while I''m doing nothing. My question is does CTS really cause this condition when there is no pain?

twitching fingers
I have carpal tunnel in both hands. It can make your whole arm hurt. My thumbs twitch, my elbow feels like someone is pinching it, and it can make your wrist hurt. Remember to ask your Dr. for tests for your neck, which can also affect your arm and hand. I am not sure if it can affect other fingers..ask your Dr.
