Hi all, would be grateful if someone could have a look at the picture attached and tell me what they think it might be or whether they have seen it or something like it before.

Just to be clear the white 'bits' in my tonsil crypts have come and gone for the last 2 years, it's not those that bother me, its the yellow patches/spots directly on the back of my throat (centre of picture) that concern me and also the fact that my blood vessels look unusually pronounced.

Bit of Background:

These yellow patches/spots have been there for at least 2 months because that's when I first noticed them. I have seen the doctor several times in that period and like me he thought it was Strep throat, so I have tried 2 different AntiBiotics (Ciprofloxacin and Penicillin) but they haven't had any effect.

It should be noted that I generally do not feel any pain or discomfort from my throat other than when I wake up, when it feels very irritated and scratchy, but after an hour it feels OK again.

Many thanks for any opinions or advice.

hey relax--that is just tonsil cheese/tonsil stone. it will fall out and it will be fine. it just your way of your body spitting out bacteria and infection. your tonsils are part of the lymphatic system and are just doing their job--fighting disease.

I get those too every so often. More annoying and disgusting than dangerous. You can drink some hot tea to help loosen things up. Always helps to drink plenty of water too.

Yea, I actually get those often. They usually come out when I'm not trying to get them out, either through a sneeze or involuntary cough. I would suggest gargling often, and drinking a lot of water to keep the throat moistened as the previous poster mentioned. It's funny because they come in waves for me. I'll get a lot for a couple of months, and I then I won't get any for awhile, then they come back again...

Hi. Ive got some weird yellow patches/spots on my throat too. Ive had them for about a year atleast and ive seen the doctor and she said my throat looks normal. I still have my doubts though. Could you look at the picture i've attached and tell me if these are the same things you have described?

im actually going to an ENT next week...not specifically about my throat though. Ive had problems with my ears for a number of years now. They crackle loads whenever I swallow, i get tinnitus and ear pain and they feel constantly plugged. Theyve told me over the years that I may have possible Eustachian Tube Dysfunction and theres nothing I can do about it. They also told me I had allergic rhinitus and I should go for allergy testing. I waited ten months for the allergy testing only to be told that my appointment had been lost in the system, but then my GP would not refer me again. I pratically had to beg another GP to let me have this upcoming ENT appointment, but I had to have it because my symptoms have gotten so bad and im scared!! I am worried about my throat too because it looks permenantly sore and I have those blister like things on the back and my tongue is always a green whitey colour however much I clean it. It seems to get hoarse and dry all the time too and recently the back of my tongue has been covered by these wart like things which sometimes bleed, but I think they could only be swollen tastebuds. Im sure I have got something wrong with me but its hard to get anyone to help or listen to me. People make me feel like i'm being a complete hypochondriac Sad

well that is good---i would mention it and ask if its normal or not. i dont think you are a hypochondriac. ive never seen the inside of someones mouth that looks like that. HOnestly i cant really tell if you have tonsils or not. get it checked out you may want to make a list of symptoms, funny tastes if there are any etc

I might know what both things in throat are :)
The white clumps on the sides are actually pretty harmless and common. The only complaint most people have with them is that they have an odor. They're mostly stuck food/foreign particles and bateria.

As for the yellow ones.....I notice the same thing in my a few days ago and saw my doc this afternoon for increased problems with allergies. She told me she was actually looking for them and I let her know I had them a few days ago. Anyway, they're part of the sinus drainage and cause sore, itchy throats. Since u were mentioning allergy problems I'd bet that's what it is. OTC drugs weren't working this year so she prescribed an inhalant med.

Good luck. I hope u figure yours out.

I just went to a doctor/dentist specialist about exactly the same thing who told me what it was , I cant remember the name but it was harmless , its basically glands that are blocked with grease . He said we all have sebasious (dont know if spelt that right)glands everywhere but the ones at the back wall of throat dont have a pore to let it out so it builds up there , you might get more , or it might never go or it may go ! But dont worry .
