I started taking Yaz a little over a year ago, and I've missed one pill throughout the entire time and that was about two months ago. However, I have taken one pill very very late about two/three weeks ago. About three weeks ago. Anyways, my question now is...

Yesterday I was diagnosed with the flu. Since Saturday I've been taking cough syrup, and Sunday I took Nyquil, and yesterday I began my prescription flu medicine. However, I start my sugar pills this Wednesday. I woke up this morning with my period. Is this normal? Is the medicine I am on, somewhat knocking out my birth control and making my body think it is taking the sugar pills?

I bled early about a week or two ago, and I was kind of worried. Since I was about 9 days away from starting my sugar pills. It started out as a brownish odorless discharge for a day, then bled for a day, then back to the discharge then back to very normal white discharge. [I had been taking Sinus/Head cold medicine for a few days, prior to this.] Then this happens to me today. Could the medicines be the reason for this?

I also have been taking Yaz for almost a year and for whatever reason my period always comes early, at least 2-3 days before my sugar pills. I talked to my dr though and he said its fine, even if you get your period early you are still protected with the pill as long as you take it every day. I don't know if your medicine coulda done that, but you have nothing to worry about Smile

Mine comes 2-3 days after my sugar pills. Irregular bleeding sometimes is ok. Even missing one pill causes my period to come.
