Q: potty training tips

Hi everyone,
My son has finally shown some interest in potty training(telling me he has to go poopy)so now I am just looking for some tips on how to get him to go in the potty.
He told me this morning that he had to go poopy so I took him into the bathroom and sat him on his potty but after about 5 minutes he stood up,walked away from the potty and pooped on the ground in front of it.
What kinds of things would you reommend to get him to do his business ON the potty instead of in front of it?
Thanks for all replys.

How old is your son? I haven't potty trained boys yet (that won't be for another couple years) but I have heard that it's best to start them out ON instead of in front.

pottty training
When my eldest son (now 4) potty trained he never used a potty he went straight on the toilet which was much easier as that way you only do it once. if you use a potty first then you end up training twice when it comes to the toilet aswel. my son never "sat" to wee either he always stood up and by the time he was three he was dry day and night. i have a 1yr old son who i will do the same way.

either way you train use a reward system. every time they wee or poo on toilet (or potty) they get a sticker. if they do it on the floor no sticker. remember to praise them every time they get it right. you will soon notice that they want stickers and will start doing it in the right place.

reward them say 5 times on the toilet they get a sweet or a toy anything to keep them interested.

But always remember to praise them make a HUGE fuss of them when they get it right.

Good luck and all the best

Hope this has helped

My son is 3 years old. And im having a terrible time potty training him. He's scared of his potty = / Ive done the reward system, A sticker chart, .. Ive pretty much tried everything. When he see's a potty he runs the other way. He'll tell me and my husband that he's gone poo or pee.. Well he says "Mama did you poop" lol But when it comes down to getting him to use the potty its a huge kicking and screaming fit. I helped potty train my 2 little sisters, and I don't ever remember them doing this kind of stuff.. But then again ive heard girls are easier to train then boys.
