About two weeks ago I felt horrible and had probably either the flu or mono. I had a fever, sinus pain, eye pain, body aches, etc but didnt have a cough. My throat and tonsils began to develop those white spots, but my throat did not hurt.

I was put pn one course of antiobiotics which didnt seem to do much. I was then put on another course a few days later. This seemed to clear up what I think was a sinus infection, but about halfway through this course my throat began to hurt.

I went to see the ENT and he put me on yet another course of antibiotics. I have been on these for about two days now and my throat just appears to get worse. Its red and swollen and pretty darn painful.

So do I have a resistant strain of strep or some other bacteria? How do they take care of the infection if it isnt responding to antibiotics.

No one ever swabbed my throat throughout this entire process so is it possible that its simply viral and needs to run its course?

If it is bacterial and this course of antibiotics doesnt work what will they do next? Take them out right away? I read that they dont like to take them out until the infection is gone, but my infection seems to be going nowhere even with the antibiotics.

I havent had any problems with my tonsils or throat since I was a little kid (Im 20 now). Back then antibiotics always seemed to take my sore throat awat so Im confused as to why this isnt helping now. Is it possible that its mono?
