Ok. So my boyfriend had sex with a
questionable person (who has slept around
a lot) about a month ago - before we got
together. We want to have sex, but I'm a
little concerned that he might have caught
something from her. I have previously been
told that if you go get an std test, some
things won't show up as posative (assuming
that you have it) until 3 months after
having sex with said person. Then someone
told me the other day that it's less time
than that.
Is this true?
Does it take longer for certain things to
show up?
Can someone point me to a web site with
some solid information on this?
Thanks so much.

Wear a condom. Always.
There is no test for HPV in men. HPV
causes 70% of cervical cancer in women -
but there is no test to see if men have
HPV.
Have your boyfriend go to the doctor, he
can get an STD test now and it will be
accurate. You should still wear condoms.

Use a condom.
I had sex with a questionable person about
six months ago and just did an HIV test,
which thankfully turned up negative. I
was in the same position as your BF. I
made sure I was clear because I really
care for the new guy I'm seeing.
It can't hurt to wait.
Things like HIV can take up to six months
to show, and everything else is -usually-
less.
