fainting spells and being alone Posted: 02-01-08 11:43am
I am hoping to find someone to talk to
that might have been through what I have
been through and has some ideas of what
might make me get better. I have had
several fainting spells in the last few
years and non of the doctors can figure
out what is causing it. They have done
test after test and there doesn't appear
to be anything wrong with me. They say
that blood test and everything reflect
that I am in good health. But I still
can't convince my mind that I am not on
the verge of death. And I am terrified
that I am going to have another fainting
spell all of the time. Every time it has
happened, it has scared the crap out of me
and now I have gotten scared to pretty
much do anything. Especially being very
far from home or being by myself. Several
of my fainting spells have happened in the
middle of the night. So my husband is
going away for the weekend and I am
terrified about being by myself for two
nights. It is all I can think about. Any
suggestions on how to get through it?

I'm sorry no one replied to your post
before, but I hope you are still ok.
Anxiety and stress could be the cause of
your fainting spells, and wouldn't show up
on a test necessarily. IF you are on
medication, it's a possibility that that
would be the cause as well.
I don't know why you faint, but there are
really many reasons why you could be
fainting, and I found a link with all the
causes of fainting. I hope it helps.
hi katrina, its been a long time since iv
posted on here, but i came across your
problem and remember feeling as you do,im
telling you now it,s almost anxiety please
dont worry(that makes it worse)if you feel
an attack coming on then breath into a
paper bag slowly, tell your self theres
nothing wrong, your letting fear get to you
fight back,i done this after being house
bound for 4 years,in the end i pushed
myself ,there doesnt have to be a
reason, why this happens, but you can stop
it,i dont like advertising but i did join
the linden method and it did work (im an
ordinary housewife,not connected to the
above mentioned in any way)you will be ok
,good luck xxxpip

thank you much for your responses. It is
always nice to hear from people who have
had the same experiences as you. I am
reading the anxiety and phobia workbook
and am trying to learn how to relax and
calm myself down. I think I am getting a
little bit better, but it is still a
struggle everyday. I have IBS and one of
my fears is being near a bathroom. I had
gotten so bad that i bought a camper van
and i drive that everywhere so that i
always have a bathroom with me. it has
made it possible for me to do more, but i
still get nervous once i started feeling
bad. I often feel neseaus and cramp up
pretty bad. Once I start to feel that way
it is pretty hard for me to not start
getting anxious, but I am working on the
positive self talk. I have been
considering getting some hypnosis cd's.
Has anyone ever tried this?
