I've had implanon for a few months now however I'm having some trust issues with it, I had no side effects what so ever with it and for that I'm happy.
when you read the patient data it says it's effectivity is not tested in over weight women and I am an over weight woman losing weight is an option yes I know that and I am losing weight HOWEVER it is not all going to come off in one night! it was only tested in women up to 156 lbs. I did ask my OB/GYN and he said he wouldn't have given it to me if he thought it would be ineffective, but that still doesn't reassure me
my question is:
To anyone who had it were you overweight and did you fall pregnant at any point? or was it just as effective as any other contraceptive you've tried before?

Thanks guys

How overweight are you?

Implanon is a VERY very effective form of birth control, and I have seen women at 200lbs do well with it.

If you are very worried about effectiveness, an IUD would be an option.

Because it absorbed differently, weight should not be as big of an issue, I will ask a colleague.

Ive done alot of research on the implanon, and from what i understand about what ive read is that in over weight people it still works fine, you just cant have it a full 3 year, you have to get a new one earlyer. Im not possitive about it, just thought id let you know what ive read. I would ask your dr again if you have any concerns, or maybe try asking some diffrent dr's and seeing what they say?

Hope you have a good day!
