Q: Visual Disturbances

After I had my first migraine seven weeks ago I had lumbar puncture headaches and have been suffering visual disturbances since. Particularly I have been getting "afterimages" and been having trouble with striped patterns. I have been prescribed risperdal by my doctor who is convinced there is a pshycological cause for this.
I cant help thinking there is a physical cause, maybe a complication of the migraine (which was very severe; I was hospitalised) but as the ct and mri came back negative the doctor says that the migraine cant be involved.
Any ideas appreciated

You May Have Visual Disturbances Such As Wavy Lines
See web page:

my.Webmd.Com/hw/migraines/hw116979.Asp?Las tselectedguid={5fe84e90-bc77-4056-a91c-953 1713ca348}

or basically the article states:

in the day or two before a migraine starts, you may experience prodromal symptoms such as fatigue, excessive yawning, food cravings (such as for chocolate), irritability, or restlessness.3

aura

some people experience an aura within 30 minutes before a migraine headache develops. Symptoms of an aura usually develop gradually over 5 to 20 minutes.3 during an aura, you may have visual disturbances such as wavy lines, flashes, sparks of light, blind spots, or distortions. You may also feel tingling or a "pins-and-needles" sensation in your hands, arms, or face.

I have experienced very similar symptoms for the last three years. I have a lot of afterimages, weavy/lined patterns are difficult to view, I am very sensitive to bright lights but I also have trouble holding distant objects steady.

I have had numerous tests done (mri ver etc) but all show no abnormalities.

I don't suffer from migraines, I had a lumbar puncture 28 years ago! I do suffer a lot from headaches though

Extremely eHealthy
I go halfway blind for a few seconds after I get up from lying down but that's probably because of the blood flow from laying down to getting up and the sudden loss of blood to my brain. I do get the tingling pins and needles sensation sometimes and i'm sensitive to certain lights. One day I was chopping squash and doing that one type of cut where you hold the knife tip to the board at all times and rock it. When I was doing that I couldn't stop shaking. This all could be from being hypothyroid but I just wanted to share in case someone knew about something. I do get headaches sometimes but little ones but enough to get on my nerves.

Brush With Darkness And Vision Changes
Has anyone read this book? A brush with darkness about dealing with vision loss? Or seen what can be done if you loose your vision? I caught this on another website and was astounded.... Blindartist.Com.
