Ever since I've started my period (9 years of age) they've always been long and heavy!! When I got old enough my mom asked the Doctor what we could do about it, and she said really the only option is Birth Control, so we picked up the prescription (exactly 1 year ago), but shortly after I was diagnosed with knee problems and my knee doctor suggested not to start the Birth Control, and I also didn't want to start because my mom was giving me all sorts of problems about it.
Anyhow, my knee problems have been fixed and I am able to be on Birth Control now, so this past week I went in and asked the Doctor if she could send in the prescription. Well, she explained how to start it (the Sunday after you've started your period) and then she was talking about how it wouldn't protect for the first two weeks??
Well my question is, so I start the Sunday after I've started my period, right? So for that FIRST two weeks I won't be protected? How long does it take to be affective? Can someone please explain to me how to do this? My doctor already did and I picked up some of what she was saying, but she tends to get side tracked, and I can't ask anyone else because this is being kept totally confidential. Please any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Thank You.
