off Oxycotin and Oxycodone and approved for surgery Posted: 01-29-08 19:23pm
Well, I finally heard for the neurosurgeon
and have been accepted as a surgical
importance patient. I go for my
pre-sergery eval on Wed Feb 6th.
I feel very lucky, cause they only due two
medicaid a month and you have to be bad
enough to even be a candidate. My son will
go with me as a supporter and also as my
power of atterney. I won't lie. I am
scared to death.
I am now off Oxycotin and Oxycodone and on
Vicodin ES 10/660 four times a day. Just
please everyone say a prayer for me that a
lesser invasive technique can be used.
I will keep you gang up-dated. I am in
pain right now. I can't drive longer the
about 30 hour at a time anymore. Hurt
bottom spine to much.
I don't bend and try to keep my spine as
straight as possible. I will take about a
year to recover from what I have heared.
Doc will probably put me back on Morphine
after surgery no doubt.
Keeping the faith!

Hello Carrie,
So wonderful to see your post, and
especially so having read of the severe
pain you are in.
I commend you for having the determination
to stay off of Osycotin and oycodone. I
hope Vicodin will help to some extent.
Thank goodness you have been accepted for
surgery.
I hope your pre-surgery on Feb 6th goes
well.
Carrie, you have a wonderful son who will
be there to support you in many ways i
know.
Scared to death you may be, however, your
positive attitude will help you a great
deal.
You know my prayers are there for you.
"Keeping the fath!" And a strong faith
you have. You set an example of faith
that we can all look up to.
Many gentle HUGS!!!

Thank-you also. I just never expected to
have to go under the knife again in this
lifetime. When my neuro told me the
fracture was 50-55% I broke down in tears.
I was not ready for that. I thought maybe
perhaps when I fell just before Christmas,
I may have injured one of the already two
buldging herniated disc's. But instead
broke another one and compressed yet
another. Now there a 4 that are injured.
It hit me hard. I never have lied here
about anything and I will say that I am
VERY depressed right now. Spend most of my
time in bed or on the couch just watching
the cieling. A few panic attacks of
course. But who am I. So many of you have
gone thought similar or the same thing and
have come through. Of course no one said
it is going to be pain free. Like I said,
I hear some great stories and then there
are the horror ones. I am trying already
to get prepared by calling and seeing what
the government will pay for as far as help
impliments goes....ei..wheelchair,
grabber, quad cane etc.
You have to lay on a hard mattress don't u
after surgery?

Hi Posted: 01-30-08 18:08pm
Not sure where you are, but there has to
be places that donate/free cycle in your
area. I know here in Georgia, people give
away things ot others who need them.
Wheelchairs, walkers, even hospital beds.
Look online in your area for freecycle.
Also, call around to local nursing homes
and ask if htey have donated items you
might could have or use. A lot of times
when an elderly person passes on, the
family will donate the things to the
nursing home for others to use. I have
firm mattress. My father put a piece of
woodbetween his mattress and boxspring.
You are gonna be fine. Technology has come
so far......Mine is L3,4, and 5. Was told
the cushion lining my vertebrae was
getting thin...dug, I'm almost 51 and have
worked like a horse my whole life. Get you
some crossword puzzles, some good books,
keep that mind going girl. Staring at hte
ceiling only makes you more depressed. You
have been blessed with an
opportunity....we are here backing you up
all the way! Just a computer click away!
HUGS!

Hello Carrie,
Easy my good lady. Best you keep your
pants on. LOL Unbelievable that Vicodin
gets you all wired up. For me, that stuff
put me asleep almost 24 hr a day.
Carrie, I am glad you are able to retain
your wonderful sense of humor through this
even with the depression you feel.
Fairy Godmother, who has been there, has
given you wonderful words of support and
encouragement.
You are in good hands with the Lord.

Hello Carrie,
FINALLY my ole mind "clicked". You
mentioned about feeling "wired". I
suspect that is not the Vicodin, but the
withdrawal symptoms from no longer taking
the oxy. I'm no doctor, so best to speak
with your doctor about that.
