Q: FSH levels post-op check up

Hello!
I went for my 6 week post-op check up after having a DaVinci Hysterectomy with removal of everything except cervix. I told doctor that I am so cold all the time and read that I should have my hormone, thyroid and iron levels checked. He did the blood test and just called to tell me everything was fine except my FSH level was 0 and unmeasurable. Does anyone know what this means. The doctor said that it means I have no hormone in my body and he upped the dose of my Vivelle Dot patch to .75%. Does anyone else have any information about something like this? I thought you needed to have hormones in your body for all sorts of body functions. Any help would be apprectiated.

FSH is just one form of hormones in your body. It sounds like your ovaries were removed and you need to rely on a hormone patch (vivelle) to supply you with estrogen.

You can look up FSH hormone levels and find more information. Be sure to write down all the questions you have for your next follow up with your doctor.
