I have been reading a lot on the boards and Oxycontin keeps coming up or Oxycodone. Is that the usual route that a doctor will go with. I have a meeded up back (lumbar damage, onset arthiritis, and something about a disk). I was forced to go to the ER last Friday and was given an anti-inflammatory shot, steroids and Lortab 10. I have been taking the meds but I am STILL in severe pain. I have taken more than prescribed on the pain meds and still no relief at all. I went back to the ER on Sunday and they gave me Ultram and Flexeril (muscle relaxer). They said that the Ultram was weaker than Lortab and I couldnt get them filled anyway because Medicaid had already paid for the Lortab, so I took the Flexeril and they have done NOTHING AT ALL! They make me drowsy, but NOTHING ELSE. I have to have something stronger or something better. Is Oxycontin the way to go with this or is there something else? What should I ask the doctor for? I am going back to the ER tomorrow (Tuesday) to see if I can get an MRI there and see if I can get some better pain meds. I have to work and with this pain, I CANNOT. I am hunched over walking and limping because the pain is shooting down my leg. It feels like someone has stabbed me in the back and left the knife in my back. I cannot sit for an exteded period of time and I am not getting any sleep due to the pain. ANY info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thank you,
Ashley
