I just started taking paxil cr 12.5 mg a week ago for my generalized anxiety and panic attacks. I was wondering if anyone has taken this for anxiety and if it helped or not. The only side effect I have had is trembling of my hands. I am hoping this med will work. I hate having to play around with meds.

Hi there! It takes a while to get used to any new med say about 4-6 weeks and you have to remember that everyone is different, I used to be on it but now I am on effexor with a lot of other meds due to pain another thing to remember that it is a new chemical going into your system, I think I kind of repeated myself, oh well! Anytime I get a new prescription, I check it out on the computer, it does seam to help me. Keep us posted about how you do with it!
Sincerely,
sandy

Thanks a lot for the advice. I actually spent quite a bit of time looking into it on the internet, but it is always much better to here about it in real life experience. How is the effexor working for you? Why are you having so much pain? Did you like the paxil? Let me know if you have some time. Thanks! :d

I was on paxil and it was awful. A side effect is nervousness (and why take an anxiety med that causes nervousness?) and it made me extremely jittery. I felt like the night before the first day of high school. It was awful. That did eventually stop, but then it gave me horrible nightmares. I know it sounds crazy, but they started when I began taking paxil and they stopped after it got out of my system.
Also, when you do go off of paxil the side effects are just ridiculous. Hopefully it works for you though! I do wish you the best. I am on zoloft now and I have minimal side effects. But like the previous post said everyone reacts differently to different meds.

Hi, it's me again! I really liked the paxil but after being on it for over a year it seemed as though it was loosing its effect and all I was doing was gaining more weight which I definitely did not need so I tried a few other's and they did not work so now I am on effexor and it has worked pretty good for my anxiety but the doctor is talking about upping the dose.
I have always worked hard physically all my life now I am 51 y/o and my mind says go but my body says no! Besides anxiety I have peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia, rsd(reflex sympathetic dystrophy), chronic fatigue syndrome I have had several surgeries which have failed and I fall alot. They want to do another surgery on my back but I say no way not with what has happened in the past. Their are a lot of dr's it seems like all they want to do is write out prescriptions as they are afraid to treat you as they are afraid of being sued and this system is a mess! I hope you are feeling better! Have you tried the deep breathing and the relaxing techniques, they do help somewhat.
Sincerely,
sandy

Sandy-
it seems like you have been through a lot. I am so sorry about all your pain and suffering. I know sometimes you can build up a tolerance to the meds. I have now been on the paxil a little over two weeks and I am really starting to see the difference. It seems to just make things a little easier. I don't seem to worry about the things I used to worry about. My mom has fibromyalgia. I know how much it effected her. She started seeing a massage therapist who specialized in it and it helped her alot. Maybe you could try it? What are the other things you have>? Also how long have you had your anxiety/panic disorder? If you have kids, did it effect your pregnancies? I am concerned what will happen to me when my husband and I start our family. Hope to here from you soon.

I used to take paxil 12.5, but it would just make me fall asleep, so the doc told me to take it at night. How was that supposed to stop my anxiety during the day!?! So I quit taking it, and would just do breathing excercises, now i'm fine!
