brown spotting and abdominal discomfort

I have been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for 4 years now. I take my pills at the exact same time everyday because I have a reminder on my cell phone and always have my phone and pills on me. I have not forgotten any pills in the past month, and I have not been on anti-biotics. I did have a yeast infection this past month and used a one time use treatment from the pharmacy. Last week during my third week of pills I started spotting brown. For a few days I thought it was not a big deal as brown blood is old blood, but as it continued for days, I went in to see my doctor. She said I am fine and nothing to worry about, but to keep an eye on it. I always start my period on Tuesday, which would be tomorrow, but Saturday, I started bleeding red. I thought I started my period, but it turned out to just be a little more spotting, only this time red. The spotting as continued over a week now, usually being brown. And like I said I have been checked out by my doctor. My period should start as normal tomorrow, but I'm still freaking out. I've been noticing a discomfort in my left lower abdomen (told the dr about this) and I think it's more of my nervousness, I can be a hypochondriac when I think something is wrong and I'm really worried about this spotting.

Does anyone have any explanations? I know spotting occurs when you miss a pill or are new to the pill but I have been on it for 4 years and did not miss a pill last month. Could this be related to my yeast infection? I am worrying myself sick. Hopefully my period comes tomorrow like normal.

Thanks!

It's probably just an anomaly. If you're doc said you're fine, I wouldn't worry unless it continues.
