My son has tightness in throat

hello,

my son has tightness in his throat and it feels like a lump sitting in his throat pit. He had a couple of episodes when he felt like he was choking and went into a panic attack because of the sensation.

He ended up in the e.R. This weekend and they used a scope to take a look in his throat. It turns out that the lump in his throat is a polyp. This is causing the sensations, resulting in the panic attacks.

He'll have to have it removed. We're making an appointment with an ear/nose/throat specialist through our family doctor a.S.A.P.

Perhaps all of you who have this sensation should do the same????

It is definately worth trying for those with throat problems. It could not hurt, and if that is what it is, they can fix it. Thanks for posting that info.

Tightness In Throat

Hi
i have had problems with tightness in my throat for almost a year now...I have had blood tests, saw an ent three times, family physician and gastro doctor who did an endoscopy and said all looks ok...This is a frightening feeling.. Three docs have said it is probably globus hystericus....Anxiety...???
I have always been a high anxiety person, and worry about my health constantly....Anyone out there experience this?

When my anxiety first got really bad, I had the tightness in the throat and excess phlem. I had it for about a year. It was really annoying, especially when I didn't know why I had it.
But, once I got medicated for my anxiety, it went away.

yes, I have experienced this and suffer from anxiety attacks. I believe they are definitely related. I would suggest seeing an ear/nose/throat specialist to rule out other causes first, then see your doctor about treatment for anxiety attacks.

I also have tightness in my throat. I was not aware of what it was. When I mentioned it to my doctor, he did not say it was anxiety. I'm glad I read this post!
