internal yeast infection and PID
Posted: 01-27-08 18:17pm

I am married, faithful,31,2 kids, 110 lbs, 5 5", active and eat healthy.I have had lower back pain that is getting increasingly worse for the past 6 mnths.I equated it to picking up my 4 yr old daily who is 50 lbs.During mid cycle especially and throughout cycle I have a dull crampy ache between my hip area accompanied by thick white discharge, sometimes creamy, sometimes like a plug before giving birth.I equated that to ovulating as well as I did that my vaginal area would become very full looking and well, ugly like it was engorged but not painful and turn purplish.I also had 2 UTI's that went away on it's own last month rather quickly.I went to dr for the back pain, my last pap was in 06 so I got a pap just to be current.Dr said I have a pretty bad internal yeast infection(no itchy,no cottage cheese,no soreness) and she also said I have PID.She gave me a shot in the rear of antobiotic.Dyoxycycline & Flanyx & a script to get an ultrasound to r/o abcessed ovaries.OK, what the heck is going on?My husband swears he's faithful and though she reassured me I can have it from bacteria, she thinks the test will show chlamydia.None of this is sitting well. Can this be something else.My pelvic feels like a water balloon is in there to the touch but no real noticeable distension and no real obvious cervical tenderness and no bleeding between cycles.Periods are 5-8 days long but that's norm for me, unfortunately.Any ideas or does PID sound right?

I had PID, and it was NOT from an STD or unfaithfulness.

Bacterial vaginosis is very common in women. Our natural bacteria can become unbalanced with bad bacteria, and these can come from our own hands touching ourselves.

MY PID developed from BV that was left untreated. I get BV frequently, and that time I did not have the symptoms that I had before.

MY OBGYN suspected Chlamydia, and of course it came back negative. Smile

Ok, that's good news about the it not having to be from an std. But if it's not too personal can you please tell me what your symptoms were? I would so appreciate it.

MY CASE IS THE SAME. I HAVE PID AND I AM FAITHFUL TO MY HUSBAND AND HE ALSO SWEARS HE HAS NOT HAD SEXUAL INTERCOURSE WITH ANYBODY ELSE OTHER THAN ME. I BELIEVE HIM BECAUSE A WOMAN CAN TELL WHEN THERE IS INFIDELITY, ANYWAYS THE THING IS I HAVE PID AND I DON'T THINK IT HAS TO BE BY AN STD. I GAVE BIRTH 2 MONTHS AGO AND I HAD A BACTERIA BEFORE GIVING BIRTH WHICH GOT TREATED AND I READ THAT IT MAY BE FROM THAT ALSO BECAUSE MY SYMPTOMS STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AFTER GIVING BIRTH. I AM GLAD IT DOES NOT NECESSARILY COME FROM AN STD.

PID isn't always from an STD!!!!

I've had PID a few times. It's from an infection left untreated!!!!!! I ususally get it from a yeast infection that I stupidly let go too long, not an STD. You even said you had 2 UTI's left untreated. It wasn't two, it was one!! Symptoms went away once, and came back, went away again.... infection traveled upwards and now you got PID. That's the deal.
