This is the 3rd freaking time i've asked to have them put me on decent hours when coming back to work starting next friday. Theres no possible way i get enough sleep to function, or have any time to spend with my kids working 4-1am. I've asked in a very nice manner to have some 1-9, and 3-11s put in there so i would get a bit of sleep, and time with the kids before, and after work. With my fiance doing days for the next month or so it's just not going to work out. Well he's got me on all 4-1am for the whole month of Feb. I left one last note while i was there yesterday checking the schedule asking NOT to have the 4-1s. And if he doesn't change it i think i'm going to quit. But i want you guys to put yourself in my shoes, and what would you do? Money is not a issue here. We just got our taxes back, and we will be able to make it for a couple months. But i'm hoping it doesn't take that long to find another job. I have seen a few adds in the paper, and i'm going to go put in some apps when i get my car unstuck! lol stupid snow. But am i stupid for quitting if it doesn't change? I just don't think i can handle getting only 2-3 hours of sleep minimum.

EDIT to add: The guy that isn't even qualilfied to get a VACATION cause he hasn't been there long enough is getting the 1-9 all the weeks. I've been there for almost 3 years, and i think i should get better than this.

If you are confident that you are going to get another job and you can survive until you do then just quit. 4pm-1am sounds awful hours.

Family comes first (for me anyway)

If you have enough money to hold you over until you find a new job, I think I'd quit. It's not fair that you've been there that long & you're getting horrible hours & they won't change them for you.

yeah it's stupid. I'm going to go in tonight, and see if he's changed it since i left the note, and if not i'm going to leave a note that i'm done.

Yeah I would quit and try to manage until you find a better job since you have enough money to do that.

Where do you work?

Scheduling is so hard. Everyone has the hours they'd like and there are only so many hours in a day...

I wouldn't quit until I had another job - because I'm paranoid like that.

id quit and work my butt of finding another job, in the end it will make u physically sick functioning on that little amount of sleep. your health is more important, dont these morons know u have anewborn now? Scheduling does suck ingi but im sure if she talked iwth other workers they would be willing to switch some, when i worked at walgreens we used to trade hours all the time when we needed to.

Well, I was speaking from experience at managing 10 employees. Scheduling sucks. Every single person wants a different 'special' time to work. And, as the manager who has X amount of hours and X amount of time slots to fill in a day, it isn't easy when everyone has the opinion that their schedule is the only schedule that needs to be considered.

Katie, are you going to school during the day too?

some people are more open to the hours they want, but some people would be more willing to work when they need or want just to get more money and hours, but no one ever asks and no one never tells so no one ever knows

No, I'm not in school. I told them I have open availability.

well i went in last night, and the schedule still hasn't changed, and i guess he said that everyone will do EVERYTHING, and that includes graveyard shifts. 8pm-6am. I will NOT do those shifts. I might put up with the 4-1, but i will never do those kinda shifts with kids. I'm going to go in monday and speak with the GM, and see if theres something he can do. Theres a opening in the laundry department. Not my ideal job, but it will pay the bills, and it will me morning hours. 8-4. And if all that doesn't work i'm going to quit. I talked it over with the other half last night, and he doesn't want me doing the 4-1s, or graveyard shifts. So wish me luck that i get that laundry job, or that the GM can help me out here!
