I had surgery for rotator cuff tear, labrum tear and bicept tear six months ago. In the rotator cuff repair, I didn't have enough cartiledge to repair so they had to shave the bone. I do have more use from my shoulder but still have the pain, popping, sensation of "pulling or stretching" when I overdo something and sometimes my fingers and hand goes all tingly. Is it normal practice for the doctor not to do another MRI (or whatever) to see if everything is ok? Heck, thinking back, I can't ever recall this doctor (who has taken care of big name athletes and other celebrity people) even touching my shoulder in examination.

I am a caregiver, that means I lift people. I still have problems lifting the 10 lb restriction limit! Will I ever be able to lift again? And my doctor gave me a 10% disability rating. Should that be more? What happens if the case is closed and I reinjure it because the doctor cleared me for regular duty and I go back to lifting?

Due to it being a workman's comp case, my doctor ended my therapy and I had my last dr. appt with him on the 21st of January. WC goes by an overall time period of healing which I guess is 6 months. I think that is ridiculous because no one patient is the same. I heal much slower because I am also diabetic. How can they take all the cases with this kind of damage and decide on a certain amount of time to heal?

Does anyone have any advice or comments. Thanks Laura

I'd demand another MRI if I were you!

DO not let Workers Comp. bully you. There are no "set" time frames. They play games because they are trying to save money. You have every right to be healed. I have 2 family members and 1 friend who have injured themselves at work in the last 2 years and all three of them thought if they played by WC rules they would get taken care of. All three of them have had to hire a lawyer. Do not take to heart what their independent medical examine docs say either. They are working for WC. Take care! Be strong!
