Q: constipation after delivery

Its been a little past 2 weeks since I've delivered my son and I'm still finding myself getting constipated on a regular basis. The Dr. told me to take stool softeners after delivery and I have... but they don't do anything for me so I've been taking laxitives. Has anyone experienced this issue and did it last this long or longer? Is this a concern I should bring up to my Dr? I'm passing a bowel movement about every 2 days but thats after drinking a ton of laxitive and waiting for the right time to go, seeing it takes a while to soften my stool to where I can pass it w/o too much pain. It hurts so bad to walk, sit and try to go to the restroom. I have not been eating as I should be either due to the pain and not wanting to become more blocked up. I've had a episiotomy and 3rd degree tear so I also have a ton of stitches in which I worry about ripping due to my constipation issues. Any advice would be great, thankyou!

Oh.... then I don't know. I was constipated for nearly 2 weeks after Jay, but it was the lingering effects of the epi.

No actually, I've only took the softeners for the first few days after I came home and then once in a while thereafter. I'll start taking them everyday now. Thanks.
