I have recently been diagnosed with binge eating. I knew that I wasn't totally right when I would eat three 4.5 oz caremello's in a days time... But I didnt realize how bad that I am. Is there anyone out there that has this prob or can recomend some sort of solution for me???? I am already on meds for bipolar, and get migraine attacks on a regular basis. I am a married mother of two beautiful children... I dont want to sit on the couch while they are outside playing, but I don't have the energy to play with them. And the hubby works a lot of hours. I want to change, but apparently not enough...I keep 'falling off the wagon', please, help if you can..... Sad

It doesn't sound like motivation is the problem. It sounds like the depression is really starting to hit hard...

Sometimes I eat a full canister of raisins in a day... I feel bad about it later (and so does my stomach), but a few days later I feel fine...

I have a chemical imbalance and sometimes feel ugly, fat, and all over crummy... Other days I feel beautiful and sexy, and all over wonderful... These feelings can happen both in the same day, or i'll feel awesome for two days and feel crappy for a day....

Part of it is our normal body hormones, the joys of being a woman with estrogen levels... Another part of it is the chemicals in the brain... Another part is just life. Everyone has good days and bad days, and it's ok to just sit around every once in a while when you just want to relax. Everyone does it, and everyone should feel happy to do it.

As long as it doesn't cause problems in your life.
If you're eating four things (sorry dont' remember what you called them) in one day every few weeks, I wouldn't worry too much. If you're eating that much every day - then it's a problem and you should talk to your doctor to see what's going on...

I wish I had more information for you, this really isn't my area of experience - but just know that someone is listening if you need an ear or a shoulder!

Good luck, keep us posted...

I'm new and I also have binge eating problems.
I've done a lot worse then 4 caramellos in one day.
I've eaten whole jars of peanut butter, and whole cakes.
I'm ashamed to say but on my wedding night I ate our whole wedding cake.
I work out a lot to try to make up for the calories I eat, but there's only so much I can do. Recently i've gained 15 pounds in a few weeks, about 5 pounds aweek. I stopped working out because I am sore all the time.
I can relate to how you guys feel. I also have been known to starve myself. I was once 95 pounds. It's a vicious circle, I don't want to go back to starving. But I keep thinking it's the only way.

Stlsinglemomma,

what you said about hormones is soooooo true & may be alot of the problem, but your other point about chemical imbalances in our brains is spot on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This occurs especially with hormonal changes & stress/illness/many meds can trigger this cycle too -including the good old pill- naturally a man invented it so of course it causes us billions of problems. Evil or Very Mad

jenfedswit,

your children won't suffer if you're not always there, it's more important what you're there for like to give them a hug/kiss when they're hurt or just cause you love them, or when they have something special on at school or whatever. They can play though on their own if you just can't do that. How old are they?????

Try & cook up & freeze ahead several meals so that you don't have to have that hanging over your head everyday - what to feed them.

Is there anyone who can help you with some of the essential chores, shopping, necessary cleaning (*not home beautiful, just the real basics) & washing??

What have you got in your life that you do just for you?? A special regular outing with a friend? A tv show, read a new book regularly, art classes? What? You need some time for you in order to balance yourself & your mind.

I don't know what your finances are like but I would suggest you do some research for yourself & then (after you check it out) talk to your dr about getting dhea & 5htp - both would basically help stress, mood disorders, energy levels & so forth, like I said look them up on a search engine or email me direct & i'll give you some more info -no, I don't sell them!!

Also go for a walk between 6 & 7 am every morning (the kids can come too if husband is at work) this will also help destress you because of the effect on the brains chemicals at this time.
