Wow, that is young. She hasn't fully grown yet, has she? What do they think caused this problem? Accident? If she is grinding her teeth, that is actually normal for children who are still getting teeth in. How is her bite? Is it balanced (not necessarily straight)? Balance is so much more important. Both jaws must work together as one jaw. I would recommend seeing a TMJ specialist like a Functional Joint Orthotic dentist or neuromuscular dentist. Just be very careful and always start out conservatively.

God bless...

if you need help finding a good doctor for her i can help. Id love to say that she will grow out of it. Its really hard to say. Ive been dealing with tmd for roughly from about her age. Ive had it since i was born but didnt have the symptoms till i had an accident. use heat and ice on the joint and get her in to have a splint made

thanks for the replies guys!!!

we live in the uk on a small scottish island, so are limited with drs and dentists!!!

though in saying that our dentist is very good, she has taken impressions of her teeth, and is organising a splint for her!! she also took x rays, she still has some baby teeth, has adult teeth coming through, and she could also see her wisdom teeth on the x ray!!!

she is hoping that once her adult teeth are through, there will be some improvement!!!

our dentist is going to keep a close eye on things and we trust her completely, she won't hesitate referring her on to specialists if need be!!!

we don't know how this happened, but she is a wee star, and coping with it amazingly!!!!

it is a possibility that there will be improvement when the adult teeth come in as adult teeth often come in differently. If you run into a brick wall with the specialists let me know--i have found very good doctors over there. IF she ever needs to talk to someone that has it just for moral support let me know. Ill be glad to write her.
