Q: mother on Xanax but has fatigue and nausea

Hello all. My mother has been diagnosed with and suffering from clinical depression since last June/July. She sees a psychiatrist on a regular basis and has been prescribed Xanax. She was originally prescribed Zoloft, but she had a horribly negative reaction and the doctor deemed her to be "seritonin sensitive", so that took all the SSRIs and derivate options off the table. Her two biggest symptoms are fatigue and nausea. I decided to move back home to help her with things and was hoping she would improve, even if slowly.

It is now January, and I am sorry to say that she has hardly improved at all. She said her biggest obstacle is the constant nausea. She was prescribed Compazine (sp?) to help with it, but it rarely if ever works. And to rule out any other possible causes, she has had a battery of tests and there is nothing physically wrong with her.

Sometimes I wonder if the doctor she sees is even helping at all. I am very frustrated and seeking advice. What can I do to help her at this point? It's been 7 months and she can do very little on her own. I'm not asking out of any selfish notions, as I don't mind helping my mother, but that fact that she has showed no significant improvement is of deep concern to me. Any suggestions?

Sounds like my mother!
Did you ever get a reply from anyone on your xanax/nausea question? My mother is on lexapro/xanax with constant nausea. She does not want to eat and is not able to concentrate. She has been on the lexapro for only 2 weeks. Did your mother get any relief from her nausea?
