I can't decide if the press they get is a good thing because they are loony tunes and the more negative attention they receive the better, or if the press they get is a bad thing because the other loony tunes in the world will use this pile of dogsnot to justify any violence/discrimination towards homosexuals.

There's not much difference between the Phelp's clan and the Pope's clan; just prettier words.

I'm pretty sure it's not either. Least, that's not what I was taught. I know it happens though:

I was in a Baptist youth group for a month or so over the summer. At one meeting, we were made to watch a tape talking about the evils of homosexuality. I was furious, but didn't say anything because these were the only friends I had. They introduced me to smoking (on an old abandoned railroad bridge - how stereotypical!). I left the group after this event and after confessing I'd smoked a cigarette to my parents. The group was later involved in a sex/drugs party a few years later.

None of those kids - or their parents - were real christians.

The phelps are not xian or any thing other than phelps. Their god is the mentally disdurbed angry hate fixated head of the cult, fred.

This abusing folk at funerals seems to be a Kansas thing. We had operation rescue west show up at one of our chaplains funerals and angain at the funeral of a clinic volunteer. One of my close friends died a few years back she had been a volunteer and very out spoken about being pro choice. We literally had to form a line and physically block them from pushing their way into her service with her daughter crying and begging them to leave. Nothing like having to have the police called during a funeral service. One of their creepy people did get in and signed the guess book. Her daughter was so upset that even that got defiled by them.

The phelps love the attention and I think that if the press would simply ignore them they would be forced to find another tactic to get that attention. For such a small group of morons they are getting world class coverage to spread their hate.

That garbage made me nausious. Those people really have a lot of time on their hands. Must be a 24/7 full time job being able to fill in every moment with hate.

I loved Brokeback Mountain. Especially, the role Heath Ledger played as Ennis Del Mar. He was brilliant, sensitive and searching for himself. What person hasn't gone through soul searching in their life?

Has it really come down to the point we need to have police or the sheriff's deputies outside a memorial service? It seems these crazies are just seeking their own gratification in what they consider "I am holy, rightous and I can and indeed will cast that first stone." Forget what the bible actually says about love thy neighbor as yourself.

Love is better than hate. If two people can find each other and love each other, I believe that is what God has in mind for us.

Fox News Host John Gibson Cruelly Mocks Heath Ledger's Death and his Role in Brokeback Mountain

In the wake of Heath Ledger's death, people around the world are mourning the gifted actor's passing and are expressing their appreciation for how he changed hearts and minds with his Oscar-nominated role as a gay cowboy in 2005's Brokeback Mountain.

In a stark and disturbing contrast, Fox News Radio host John Gibson cruelly mocked Ledger's death and his role in Brokeback Mountain during his Jan. 22 John Gibson Show radio broadcast. During the show, Gibson played an audio clip from the film of Jake Gyllenhaal's character, Jack, telling Ennis (played by Ledger), "I wish I knew how to quit you." Gibson then coldly quipped, "Well, he found out how to quit you." Then, after playing another audio clip from the movie of Ledger's character saying, "We're dead," Gibson mockingly said, "We're dead" and played the clip again.

“Gibson’s remarks are vulgar and disgusting,” said Rashad Robinson, GLAAD’s Senior Director of Media Programs. “It’s sickening that Gibson would exploit Heath Ledger’s tragic death to promote such hurtful intolerance. And to do so at a time when family and friends are grieving shows a level of insensitivity that is beyond the pale.”
Beyond his mockery of Ledger's role in Brokeback Mountain, Gibson called the actor a "weirdo" with "a serious drug problem," and callously speculated on the reasons Ledger might have committed suicide. Gibson had previously mocked Brokeback Mountain–calling it a "gay agenda movie" on his Fox News TV program in 2006.

and lodge your complaint. I did and I will never, ever watch Foxnews again. Ever.

Such cruel, hateful intolerance should not be shoved into our faces. John Gibson says he doesn't want to have gay relationships shoved into his face, but, really who of us want to be subjected to his views of what is comfortable in his little world?

Heath Ledger was an actor who played the role of Ennis Del Mar. How does that now make him homosexual with a major drug problem who is now "out of here?"

Must be pressures to get ratings on the networks. They have seen the last of me. I will never turn on Foxnews again.

oh yes because playing make believe is a sin and anyone who plays cops and robbers are going to hell because they pretended to be a robber, therefore they are robbers!!

bull crap. How ignorant is it to PICKET someone's FUNERAL because they PLAYED a part in a movie? it always seems to be the Baptists too...

I've never seen the movie, but I don't believe they said anything about god being a liar... Besides, I though god loved EVERYONE, what happened to that one?!? Bible says shun homos and witches, but THEY ARE PEOPLE TOO!!

People protest because they think it does something. What have they proven with 35,000 peaceful protests? I've only heard of this one and I don't give a rats ass of their opinion. Doesn't ruin my day... What do they think they'll prove??

They are completely normal people that have had nothing go wrong in their life and condemn people for being a different religion and for being confused about their gender (some people honestly don't know if they are male are female and were BORN that way, they didn't chose it). I let them believe what they want, but shun me for my beliefs, I could care less...

Sry so long, just wanted to get that off my chest....

Actually I've never read anywhere in the bible to shun homosexuals... outside of the Old Testament which as far as my belief and interpretation of the Bible goes, Jesus created a new Covenant with God and humans so the old covenant under Moses (where Leviticus and all of those rules came from) is void. I don't think God necessarily changed his mind on any of those rules, but just felt that humans were now ready to eat pork because they could cook it right, and ready to be homosexual because the population was big enough for homosexuality to be helpful for the population, as it is in many animals species (which were also made by God lol).

As for witches, I don't actually know. I know of crazy ladies from the south who freaked out for the actors of the Harry Potter movies, saying they were going to go to hell for reciting spells. Lol!! J.K Rowling INVENTED all of those spells!! None of them are real!!

The bible doesn't use the word homosexual, but it does state having sexual relationships men with men and women with women as a vile affections..

Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.

I know it doesn't actually say "homosexual" as that is a modern word, however it does refer to homosexuals in a very identifiable way as you have quoted.

I have explained many times before why I do NOT consider the quote from Romans to be proof of homosexuality being bad or evil or sick or a sin. Why? Because God MADE these people gay as a punishment. These are not natural homosexuals - and it is easy to interpret a straight person acting gay as unnatural - as unnatural as it is for a gay person to act straight.

You never struck me as a homophobe, MeBlonde...

Speaking as a gay man and a reformed baptist, Jesus never mentions homosexuality at all. He just says we should all love and respect each other. In Leviticus it says no to homosexuality but it also says women should sit in the back of church, never speak out or lift there heads up or cut there hair or show there legs, never eat shellfish, never should a man and woman divorce, it goes on and on and on...and all of these things are punishable by death according to the old testament. People pick and choose pieces of the bible that they want to apply to there lives and we are all sinners in the eyes of God so why hate gays when it would be just as easy to hate yourself for eating lobster or wearing pants or cutting your hair, etc.... Love is the answer...not hate. We are human, thats all and thats OK. You know, homosexuality isn't even a human thing, you see homosexuality in all aspects of the animal kingdom so it isn't a sin. I was born gay, have known all my life, have never had sex with a woman ever and no one made me gay just like no one can make you straight. To thine one self be true.

Eiri.
First I am not a homophobe. You said it was not in the bible and you are incorrect. You have to read more of the bible and not just the parts I posted.. It does pertain to being inmoral. There are many things trough out the bible that state it.

It's sort of like the saying "man can not live on bread alone" people like to use that saying.. But they don't say the rest of the verse that follows.

Do you were pants or cut your hair or eat shellfish or speak out in church or lift your head and look around in church ? Ever tell a little white lie? Steal a piece of candy or a toy as a child??If so then you are as guilty as any homosexual or any murderer for that madder and you are domed to a life in eternal Hell....if you believe everything you read in the bible then you know that ALL sin is the same in the eyes of God..Leviticus goes on and on about what to do and what not to do. And GOD didn't write the bible, men did...interpretation is the same today as it was 2000 years ago....you can find something in anything if you want to....
