Hi, this is my first post here! This is my sleep-related problem - I never feel as though I've slept, never feel refreshed. It doesn't matter if I go to sleep at 9 pm or at 1 am, I still feel the same. If anything, I sometimes feel better with less sleep. I know it doesn't make much sense to me. I have narcolepsy and I've been taking provigil for it for couple of years.

It took a while to adjust to the medicine, at first it made me an insomniac and really affected me during the day (and really helped). Then as time passed it seemed to be ineffective, I started taking more. I felt horrible and finally have it regulated by taking 100 mg in the morning and 100 mg later around noon. It doesn't seem overly affective for me anymore, but I'm in Thailand and here I do not have many options for this problem.

So, I'm not sure if my sleep problem is due to the medicine or not. I also have Endometriosis, so that could be affecting hormones, affecting sleep. Ok to add to the drama of this situation, I was also working as a contractor in Iraq. When I was there, laying on my bed at night and falling into a deep sleep, we'd get bombed. It was the scariest thing I've experienced because it happened day in and out and I felt that I was so vulnerable, when going to sleep, and when this happened it really scared me. Maybe now that is partly affecting my sleep too - like I sleep with 'one eye open,' I'm not sure. I just never feel refreshed and I either sleep lightly or I have nightmares that are extremely vivid. Any thoughts?

How many times you are experiencing nightmares in one night, week, month?
When did you start to have them?

One of the symptoms of narcolepsy is Disturbed Nighttime Sleep: tossing and turning, nightmares, and frequent awakenings during the night.
