I have Fibromyalgia for 20 years. I am now 60. I have severe muscle pain and have not found anything that helps. There are times that I am unable to walk more then a few feet even in my own house. Has anyone found a medication that helps without making you into a zombie???

Eat foods that does not cause inflammation...try the anti-inflammatory diet.

My fibro pain went from a 10 to a zero in less than 30 days and I also lost weight...wish I had known about it 8 years earlier...that is 8 years of my life that I can't get back Sad

Medications will only mask the problem...diet is the natural way to go.

severe muscle pain needs medication advice
Hi there

This type of problem is often caused through wrong diet. Zigemyster is spot on. Avoid all acid forming foods, such as potatoes, dairy products. all meats, deli meats like ham, bacon, dead donkey (mortadella) These foods(?) contain dangerous chemicals like nitrites and nitrates, both implicated as cancer causing agents. Don't smoke or drink alcohol. Both of those are acidic. Your problem is rare in peoples whose diet is predominantly vegetarian and low in calories, total lipids, saturated lipids and cholesterol.
Scientific data suggest positive relationships between a vegetarian diet and reduced risk for several chronic degenerative diseases and conditions, including obesity, coronary artery disease, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and some types of cancer.
Vegetarians often have lower mortality rates from several chronic degenerative diseases than do non vegetarians.
Vegetarian diets offer disease protection benefits because higher concentration of antioxidants such as vitamins C and E, carotenoids, and phytochemicals.
I have been a vegetarian for more than 20 years and am in excellent health.
Make sure you drink enough clean nonchlorinated water.(At least 2 liters a day)
Give it a try! You have nothing to lose!

Good luck

Kinetico

muscle pain - mineral imbalance
talk to your doctor about balancing your calcium & magnesium & other minerals. But you need to have a kidney function test before starting magnesium suplimentation. Magnesium has helped me with cronic fatigue, adrenal fatigue, allergies, & thyroid dysfunction. be careful to not unbalance your minerals.

I am not a vegetarian however my fibro pain is gone (unless I eat something that I should not).

Anti-inflammatory diet: Cut out all processed foods (pasta, bread, cookies, etc), replace cow's dairy products with goat's dairy; meats are ok, preferably organic; fish is ok as long as in it's orignal form it had fins. Which means, no shrimp, crab, crawfish, lobster. Also no catfish (these critters are bottom feeders...where toxins lie).

Also absolutely no pork...think about it; what does a pigs diet consist of? When you eat pork you will eat toxins...they are scavengers, yuck!!!! So the toxin goes from the pig to you...double yuck....

Deli meat; must have no nitrates.

I posted the anti-inflammatory diet in the Fibro forum. If not found and you need it, let me know and I'll repost.
