It could be a number of things. Women have spotting between periods after coming off of the Depo shot pretty often. Or some women spot mid-cycle because they are ovulating. It's also possible to spot when you are pregnant. If you are sexually active, you might want to take a test in a couple of weeks. Other than that, call your gyno and ask to speak with a nurse who will probably set your mind at ease.

Brown spotting is just old blood and is very common. Unless it is heavy or last more than a few days, I wouldn't worry to much.

just curious
is it possible to spot after just recently concieving?? Like when it "catches"?? (sperm and egg meet)
OR I know there's only a certain time to get pregnant (usually) but if the egg is "down there" and finds the sperm? OR the sperm live for what is it, 5 days inside before dying off and then the egg meets them? I'm sorry about the wierd questions, but i'm just curious

Spotting can occur when it attaches.....light pink or red. It would not be brown.

Help!
For about a year and a half, I have had a brown discharge between my periods, it starts one week after my period, and continues at least a week, but sometimes continues all the way till my next period. The discharge is pretty heavy, I need to wear a pad for it, and is a brownish black color. It is soooo frustrating. I've been seeing a physician. The problem started when I was not on birth control. She put me on birth control, and has changed it probably 3 times. The changes haven't helped, we stopped changing birth controls after the third one, to give my body time to get used to the changes, thinking that maybe the birth control changes could be too quick. I have been on the same pill for probably 8 months now, and the discharge has continued. I am 26 years old, so I don't think this is menopause, I hope not.

I am in a high stress grad school program, and noticed that the discharge was much lighter when I was on a break from school, not sure if this is stress related somehow or what. Any ideas on what this could be, and how I can get it to stop? I really hate having bleeding and discharge most of the month.

I'm the same way, don't worry. I just started the Depo shot July 17th and i've had the same problems. I was worried at first, but it usually only last for maybe a day or two, goes away, and then stops and randomly pops up after a few days or a week or so.
