Shocked
it does not seem to be a subject easy to approach but I would like to know from those "who have had hip surgery" what affects it has had on your sex life.
I got this "happy book" about how 75 percent of those who have hip surgery find their sex life better. But after the hip is healed, I wondering about the machanics of sex.
I have been in pain for 9 years because I am worried about this. My "worst pain" is when I walk, not when lying down.
I hate to be blunt but how will I know about this unless I ask?
What about thrusting or leg spread issues?
Thank you and I hope I did not embarass anyone too much.

Sex And Hip Replacement
I had a hip replacement 7 months ago, and find sex easier then ever before. I have more movement in my joint now then I did before the surgery. You do need to be very careful for the first 3 months after surgery but after you are all healed I am sure you will have no problems. In fact I only waited 3 weeks after surgery and all went well. If there is anything I left out please ask!

Sex After Hip Surgery
Embarassed

well, I finally had my total hip operation 4 weeks ago--there is no way I would have had sex after 3 weeks.
I have to say you are amazing!
I came home 4 days after my surgery. My rehab was a vhs tape of exercises. My husband was my coach.
I felt like I was age 2 after the surgery. When my children were age 2, we were wiping their butts and that was the way it was for me until the last couple days. I don't think the experience was doing much for my husband either.
I would never do this again. Maybe another 6 months may help me to forget (sorta like giving birth) but I doubt it.

Sex After Hip Surgery
Very Happy I had the new birmingham hip resurfacing a month ago. I did wait about 3 weeks to have sex. I don't mean to offend anyone, but I had arthritis in my hip for over 7 years and there was pretty much only one way to have sex that was comfortable, and that was on top. After the surgery we did try it visa versa, and I was able to finally enjoy it that way, I did however pay for it in pain, but after ibuprophen took effect I was good again. Hey it can only get better!!! You have good and bad days after surgery, but I am able to go for walks now without being in pain etc... I would do the surgery all over again. I am 44, so yes young, but I also wanted my life back. Good luck!
