Your welcome. I was just talking to my mother, who fosters for the local humane society, and she said that everytime she has had a foster pup with diarrhea and/or vomiting, the vet has emphasized the importance of Pedialyte or diluted Gatorade. If you can not get him to drink it willingly then you need to use a medicine dropper. My mother said that it is VERY important to get some of it in him, because the electrolyte embalance caused by dehydration can cause cardiac arrest. I'm not trying to scare you Homer, I just know that you are a loving daddy and want to know whats best for your furbaby. Please keep me updated....praying for your little one!

thanks Lele25! i will have to try that. he goes to the vet tomorrow so I am going to talk to her and she what she has for him and whta she thinks might be the best thing to do. He has to go get his distemper shot, i dont think he is going ot like that very much, my poor little guy....

Your very welcome. Sometimes if Boudreaux's is really bothering him I but him in the bath tub and put cold water on his back. This sounds mean but it really seems to provide some relief. I have also heard of using
%100 natural Aloe Vera, although I have never tried it myself so I don't know? Good luck!

Glad to hear that you got some fluids in the baby. I'm sure you already know this, but be very observant of his gums...making sure that they don't get too pale. Just out of couriousity...when did all this start? Is he a new pup? Could he have had contact with other sick pups? Parvo, as you know, is extremely contagious, gastrointestinal problems however can be the result of a sudden allergy, bad reaction to food, or a simple stomach bug. My springer had horrible diarrhea Saturday night, but I'm pretty sure it was due to the fact that hubby gave her a very large hunk of seared tuna.....he definately caught hell for that. What was even worse was that he pulled a "fake gagging" to get out of cleaning it up. God only knows what we'll do if we ever have kids right?

I have found the Nutro Ultra (all natural) to be very effective. I buy it at Tractor Supply - nothing else seemed to work. My vet did say that a cortisone shot would help.

I love Nutro both of mine are on it...girl dog is on weght control and boy dog is on sensitive skin. We don't have a Tractor Supply store here so I get mine at a local pet store, although I believe they also sell it at Petsmart.

We are here for you homerx...you are always so supportive of everyone..now it's time for us to help you.

Don't give up hope....Are you calling the vet often to check on her?
When our puppy or cats were in would call often, especially when my son's new puppy was so ill when we first got him..he was in the hospital on IV, wouldn't eat for a week, I even made him hamburg and rice and brought it down, someone had recommended that to me but he still wouldn't eat. Then one day the lady who was watching him tried kitten can food and he ate that then he was fine. They thought he had parvo or something else but everything was negative we never did find out what he had. We go through so much with our pets aka children. I had a flame point Siamese cat that was indoor/outdoor and someone poisoned him with antifreeze his kidneys shut down, it was horrific. now all my kitties are indoors. I'm not going through that again.

Early this morning I had to bring Roxy (my dog) to the Vet because she has diarreha. she's been having it since sunday and i called the vet monday and asked what I could give her and she said pepto. so i have her 1tsp and Roxy threw it up. i went to petsmart to get her some doggy meds instead of human and she has been taking it but hasn't gotten better. This morning when i took her out she pooped out blood too and if really freaked me out so I had to take her to the vet. I'm so down and scared that i will lose her.

On the other hand, my other dog that my mom takes care of ran away and never came back since Sunday. Mysterly the same thing happen to my cousins dog that we had to take care of when she went away to the army a few years back. He ran away and never came back. We are not sure if he got killed or someone just stole him.

I am just very scared right now!

Sorry you are going through this as well. I swear the bugs we humans get or animals get them just as well. There is a lot going around. So it's possible this is the case.
I'll say a prayer for all of our four legged little children. It's heartbrreaking because they are our family also.

homerx
get some rest.

The doc just called me and told me he will run blood test and will call back around 12ish. He also said he will give her an iv fluids over night to prevent dehydration. He said it's nothing serious, probably just some sort of bacteria that infected her.
