I read that the beginning dosage of Effexor XR (Venlafaxine Hydrochloride) is usually 75 mg a day or less. How much are you taking?

Symptoms of an Effexor overdose may include sleepiness, vertigo, rapid or slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, seizures, coma.

Sure, that's human. Listen, you can share your feelings here. What happens exactly? Where do you feel the anxiety in your body?

Antidepressants won't make you 'act, feel ot think' like a different person, if that is what you are afraid of. Generally, they should just give you that little 'lift' that helps you through the day - deciding what to wear, what you want to do with your time and so on as well as giving you enough confidence to speak to people, maybe go out for a while, establish a daily routine etc.

You say you also have anxiety, and antidepressants can help with this too. However, it is a matter of working with your doctor to get the right dose - and even the right brand - that will leave you feeling relaxed and focused rather than lethargic and sleepy, as can happen if you are over-medicated. Some people also report feeling slightly manic for a short time after taking their dose - I believe Citalopram at higher doses can induce feelings of anxiety. If you are at all concerned about doage, you must speak to your doctor.

For the Meds you're taking (Effexor XR / Venlafaxine Hydrochloride) the following side effects have been reported regarding the respiratory system:

Frequent: cough increased, dyspnea

Infrequent: asthma, chest congestion, epistaxis, hyperventilation, laryngismus, laryngitis, pneumonia, voice alteration

Rare: atelectasis, hemoptysis, hypoventilation, hypoxia, larynx edema, pleurisy, pulmonary embolus, sleep apnea.

Additionally, people who had been diagnosed with GAD (general anxiety disorder) also reported these side effects during a trial: Abnormalities of sexual function (abnormal ejaculation and impotence), gastrointestinal complaints (nausea, dry mouth, anorexia, and constipation), problems of special senses (abnormal vision), and sweating.

Well, it seems that you meet the normal curve, then. Are you going to continue the medication for the anxiety? seek alternate treatment options?
