Hi i am taking levlen ed and missed a pill friday night. i did take it the following morning but about 10.30am. Sat night i had unprotected sex. this was my last pill before the sugar. normally i have an exceptionally light period starting on thurs (although at times it does come earlier). this month i got a light fleshy coloured discharge then nothing until sun when i got a brownish discharge(like at end of period). all very very light. did a pregnancy test negative, but am freaking out about being pregnant. i have continued with my pill. Please help. what should i do?

You should wait until at least 14 days after unprotected sex until you take a pregnancy test for it to be accurate.

If your periods are normally light, this may have just been another light period.

Pregnancy does not happen overnight, it is a two week long process.

A missed pill FRIDAY will not make you pregnant today, IF you had actually managed to ovulate etc..

Missing only ONE pill in ONE month is still protection from pregnancy.

take a test in two weeks just to ease your mind so you don't have to freak out as much. it's always nice to have that piece of mind for sure, even if the chances of pregnancy are really low. you can get a dollar store test. those are just as accurate as any other kind of test.

missing pill
so even though it was the last active pill i missed before the sugar i could still have been safe? i've been reading some of the other questions and answers and most say missing just 1 pill in the month you are still safe is this right?

Yes, this is true. Every time you miss a pill your percentage of chance to get pregnant is slightly higher, however since you only missed one pill and took it as soon as you remembered the next morning the chances are very low that you are pregnant.

I AM a healthcare professional, I work with birth control and abortion.

Missing the one pill like you did, and then taking ASAP the next morning, KEPT you protected.

YOU ARE still protected.
