Q: bowel evacuation

After I have a bowel movement, I have 1 of 2 problems:

1. I can wipe and wipe and it never gets clean.
2. If it does, then once I get up and move around, fecal matter moves down and irritates the rectal area and many times leaves marks in my underwear.

The feces that comes out seems to be of normal hardness and shape, but then it turns into a much smaller diameter (about .5 – 1 inch diameter) and that part wont come out.

I have bowel movements usually every day.

What is the problem?

Do you think that the bowels are empty? Do you feel constipated or are the feces flowing pretty freely?

In order to be sure that your underpants stay clean, you can clean your anus with water.

Check for hernia
I have this symptom as well as others such as stomach pain and bloating. I had a CT scan that says I have an indirect inguinal hernia. The hernia can sometimes remove some of the pressure in your large intestine making it difficult to empty the stool. (imagine a garden hose with a kink in it).

It's possible that you are experiencing either chronic diarrhea or unexplained changes in bowel movements. Chronic diarrhea is usually related to functional disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease. Unexplained bowel movements can be related to the colon or digestive tract. Either way, I suggest that you see your family doctor for visual and physical inspection. The symptoms is not normal and needs to be diagnosed. Your doctor might refer you to a GI (gastrintestinal) specialist for follow up. You might even look into colonoscopies as a diagnostic tool.

A colonoscopy is a procedure used to see inside the colon and rectum. Colonoscopies can detect inflamed tissue, ulcers, and abnormal growths. The procedure is used to look for early signs of colorectal cancer and can help doctors diagnose unexplained changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, bleeding from the anus, and weight loss.

Incomplete Bowel Evacuation
I have identical symtoms as Keggieman and luvmykitties39. While visiting my younger brother last month, don't ask me how we got on the subject but he suffers with the same symptoms.
It is not diarrhea and I have had a colonoscopy. I've had the symptoms for many years now and when I talked to my doctor he says to incorporate more fiber in my diet. It became worse when I did so, and my brother says the same. We both agreed that it seems as though we are alergic to fiber. We both also noticed the problem lightens up when we are eating a lot of fast food and little fiber.
One other thing, the first bowel movement of the day is perfect....all others require excessive "cleaning/wiping" as fecal matter continues to move down and ultimately irritates the rectal area. I have several bowel movements in a day (3-4).
The only way to eliminate the pain during the day after the 2nd bowel movement, is to insert the tip (about an inch) of an enema bottle (filled with cool water, using about half of the water)into the anus to clean out the residual feces. This immediately relieves the pain, but excuse the pun, it's a pain in the ---! Not to mention the inconvenience "everyday".
Please, if anyone has found a solution to this inconvenience, please reply.
Thanks

incomplete bowel evacuation
(second attempt--apparently i didn't hit the right "submit" button.) i found a solution in a round-about way. note--i said ROUND ABOUT--please bear with my complicated answer. i had complained to my dr that i was experiencing excessive perspiration with exercise. he prescribed glycopyrrolate, which i researched on the internet and learned is a type drug called anticholinergic (side effects include bloating and cramping). later when i was researching my bowel problem(i can't remember the internet site) someone had commented that they had ibs and their dr had treated the ibs with an anticholinergic. i remembered that i had a bottle of an anticholinergic which i was afraid to take because of the anticipated side effects. i decided to risk the side effects to seek relief for the bowel problem; i got immediate relief. i did experience the cramping when i took the three 2mg tablets prescribed for my hyperhidrosis and, by the way, did not help the hyperhidrosis; but i found that taking one tablet in the morning, when i experience symptoms of the bowel problem has, so far kept it under control) i learned when i got the glycopyrrolate that it is kind of expensive, but worth it to me, to have cleared up the (apparent) ibs
