Q: how to strengthen knees and ankles for half marathon

I'm trying to train for a half-marathon that is coming up March 9, 2008. I have my training plan basically mapped out, but I'm afraid my knees and ankles will get overstrained during training since running has worn them down more than in the past since I weigh more now. Any suggestions for strengthening my knees/ankles?
