BP test accurate after quitting smoking ? Posted: 01-18-08 07:35am
I wanted to check my blood pressure before
i went to my next Dr. appointment, it was
142/82, I quit smoking 8 months ago,
started walking, no weight gain. I had it
taken through two layer of clothing by the
nurse in our building, I though this was
very odd, my reading was 136/94!!
PLus the systolic is down with the
diastolic going up??? I dont get it.
I dont really think it was accurate, how
can my blood pressure go up in such little
time, especially after it had gone down to
142/82 a couple of months after i quit!
Is it possible the sweater interfered with
the nurse reading it accurately?
I have never had my BP taken with clothing
on my arm always a bare arm!
Thanks.
