Q: swollen gums peridontitis ?

im 33 male and have type 1 diabeties for 7 years now.
13 months ago i noteced my gums had swolen up a little, so i went to the docs, and she said i had gigervitus, and gave me some tablets, call metro? something." the one you musnt not drink alco with".
anyway, i took all the course, and my gums didnt get better, so i went to my densist.
and he said i had peridontitis, and id to keep brushing and it will go.
12 weeks later and it stll havent got better.
any way 13 months on and it still havent gone.
will it ever go?.
ive lost half my gums, and im starting to effect my speech. i have been going to the dentist every 12 weeks, and he seems to think it will go, but i dont believe him because there is holes starting to show,on my gumline,like where the roots are.
.
is they anything i can do, my dentist said he would do a deep clean, but will this be enuf?.
