Q: Pregnancy possible ?

scared Hi...my last period was December 8th 2007. I had sex December 23rd-24th. I am now 11 days late which would make me 5weeks and 3 days pregnant. My period is never this late. I have a regular 28 day cycle. I have been very neaseous since Sunday. Yesterday I went to the clinic to take a Pregnancy test and it came back negative. I also took a test this morning (just hoping it would be positive so I can ease my mind) but it came out negative. I was wondering if possibly I tested too early or maybe I'm not as far along as I think I am or my HCG levels are too low. I heard that the 5th week of pregnancy your HCG levels increase and there should be enough in your body to detect through a urine HPT. Has anyone been in a similar situation like this or know of anyone who has? I am just nervous and I want to know if I am pregnant or not so I can begin my pre natal care. Thanks.

hey!
if you had sex the 23rd i would give it another week.
also stressing out about being pregnant can actually give you signs of pregnancy (late periods, hunger, mood swings) so just relax and give it time!

if she doesn't get a pos. HPT and she still feels she's pregnant and just not getting a pos. on the HPT she could go get a blood test to ease her mind. A blood test will tell you FOR SURE if you are or, are not pregnant...

you can get a blood test done
hpts are normally correct though. sometimes women never get an acurate result on an hpt but a blood test will be acurate. the hpt should be giving you a acurate result right now. but you could get a blood test and then if its nag talk to your dr about why your period is late
could be stress related. sometimes if your young then you get iiregular periods. its normal and it can happen

hope you get it figured out!

Thnaks everyone. I haven't been stressing at all actually. I just really started thinking about it since the day before yesterday. I'm 22yrs old and my periods have always been regular. I would go get a blood test but the thing is that I don't have any medical insurance to go see a doctor. That's why I was hoping that I would get a positive so I can get some insurance. I don't know what to do.

maybe you could just wait a couple of weeks, like two more and test again. My last period was on Nov 11. I tested negative once at about the middle of December. I didnt get a positive until 1/04/07 and that was through a home preg test and the blood test from a doc. So maybe its too soon.

Maybe you could just relax and give it more time. Try not to stress more than you already are.

GIRL- look into the insurance thing before you hope for a positive-

they might be able to deny you insurance because of a "preexisting condition" I'm not sure about pregnancy, but just make sure about it before you tell them the results... Smile

It definitely wasn't planned but I know I want kids eventually. I would be excited if I were pregnant. I see it as a blessing. As far as the insurance thing...I would need to know if I'm pregnant before I get insurance now! They ask all of that when you try to get insurance! I did call Medicare or Medicaid (I cant remember which one) and I would be able to get on with them if I am pregnant.

Yes Medicaid is very good to have for you and your baby. We started trying to have a baby in June. It was such a hassle that I said forget it and we have just been not thinking about it. Then now we have one. Well if you are Im happy for you. It truly is a blessing. The morning sickness isnt, but its all so worth it.

Thank you! I know the morning sickness sucks...my pregnancy hasn't even been confirmed and yet Im getting morning sickness! It started on Sunday...I have never experienced something like that in my life. It was horrible. I got it really bad on Tuesday as well, I ended up leaving work early (thats the day I went to the clinc for the test) because it was so bad. Thats how I know I'm pregnant! I get the neasea almost every other day!

just a side note though
even though youve always had regular periods reguardless of your age they can still be irregular. its very common and happens alot.

nausea can be a sign of morning sickness but dont use that to "know" youre pregnant. because thats also the sign of a stomach bug or the flu.

True and thanks for your advise but it all seems too "Coincidental" that I would have missed my period, and during that time have what I believe was "implantiation cramping and spotting" then a week after that feel naseous!! All of a sudden now my period is irregular and I feel this way. I'm pretty sure I would know if I have a stomach flu...I bearly catch colds. I calculated my ovulation and conception date and that was around the time my bf came inside of me...now weeks later I'm feeling this way because of stress and a flu...what a coincident! Sorry if I seem anal...you may very well be right!
